Dreamcloud-Review

Buying beds and mattresses used to be a tedious process of trial and error. First, one had to find the time to visit a physical store, and then spend hours laying, pressing, and bouncing on different models for feel, comfort, support, and everything else that could offer a good night’s sleep. Sadly, as I am sure many of us have experienced, even those steps are not guarantees, because no amount of short-term testing can satisfactorily replicate the lifestyles we live on our beds. Aside from spending a third of our days in that space, there is also the matter of sharing beds with our spouses, kids, and pets; there is sleeping, but also playing, cradling, studying, mothers feeding, and so on.

For many years, the really excellent mattresses cost an arm and a leg for the technologies used in their design. If you did not have the budget for it, you’re stuck with your run-of-the-mill mattress which eventually made you toss and turn at night or gave you back pains. I know, because this was my problem, and before the era of “everything is on the world wide web,” there just were not that many options. Given what was available, I didn’t have anyone to vouch for each brand’s quality either.

Now, the game has completely changed with the addition of luxury beds-in-boxes, available online and delivered right to your doorstep. One such company that has risen in popularity is the DreamCloud Mattress, and if the name doesn’t entice you, allow me to break it down.

DreamCloud Mattress Where is DreamCloud Manufactured

DreamCloud has been around for some decades, but their 2019 product is what caught my attention. It is a hybrid that combines memory tech, foam, and coils — all of the things which make luxury beds — but at an affordable price range, vacuum-packed into a box and sent straight to your houses.

Components

The DreamCloud is a 15-inch, 2-toned bed with 5 layers. Each layer serves a specific purpose, so I’ll get into detail below.

Cover

The whole mattress is covered in a blend of cashmere and polyester, giving it a plush and luxurious feel. It is soft, breathable, and quilted with memory material. This makes it a EuroTop, a more seamless type of pillow-top that provides a cleaner look; but also serves to prevent shifting or changing its original shape like a conventional pillow top. The memory filling is quite compact, making it more durable than its obsolete counterpart. This outer top layer makes up 1.5 inches of the composition.

Memory Gel

The 2nd layer is a gel-infused memory foam that allows body contouring and provides pressure relief. This constitutes another 1.5 inches of the mattress.

Body contouring gives the feeling of “sinking” into the bed, which I have mostly associated with 5-star hotel beds. The gel swirl dissipates heat, which really helps in keeping cool on the bed. For those who, like me, tend to sleep hot in the course of the night, this is vital. The combination of the ventilated cover along with the cooling makes a massive difference, and I don’t wake up sweaty before the crack of dawn. Where is DreamCloud Manufactured

Poly Foam

The layer underneath the gel foam is a slightly firmer foam, providing support and body to the mattress. This is particularly important for heavier individuals, to keep from sinking entirely into the bed. The medium firmness of the bed is attributable to the poly foam, counteracting sagging, which commonly leads to body pains. This 2.5-inch layer also serves as a separator for the coils beneath.

Pocketed Coils

Under the high-density foam are individually wrapped coils. These modern versions of springs equip the mattress with mobility, allowing sleepers to shift positions with ease and not feel “stuck.” Their unique pockets make it so that they can react independently, reducing movement transfer, which is a consideration for those who share beds. In the same vein, the coils are braced round the edges, strengthening the perimeter of this bed and maximizing the entire space without collapsing. The coils constitute more than half of the mattress’s composition at 8 inches.

Base Foam

At the very base of the mattress is 1.5 inches of firm foam. This serves to cushion the coils and act as the foundation.

Ratings by Feature Where is DreamCloud Manufactured

Now that we know what’s in a DreamCloud, let’s see how all its elements combine in a number of the features we look for in a mattress. Everybody will have a different experience when it comes to talks on firmness, freedom, pressure relief, edge support, and motion transfer, because these features are determined by the person’s body weight, build, and sleeping preferences. To help understand my personal evaluations, please note that I weigh about 120 pounds, and am a combination back and side sleeper, often favoring the latter.

Firmness — 5 out of 5

I start with this because I have lower back problems, which have been mostly due to my previous bed of more than 1 decade. I didn’t take the time to notice that the mattress had sagged considerably in the center section, and I had been sleeping with poor skeletal support.

The DreamCloud has medium firmness, which gives me the adequate balance of comfort and support that I’m searching for. It is firm enough to ensure that my spine isn’t compromised, and factoring in its Eurotop cover, gives me a nice “sinking into the bed” feel that I adore.

I reiterate that if you are larger and heavier than I am, it’s likely that the DreamCloud may feel softer, as your body sinks more significantly into the mattress.

Mobility — 5 out of 5

One of my sleeping habits is also shifting a lot through the night. I’m a combination sleeper and change between back and side sleeping. I’ve had beds which were too soft and static that made it feel like drowning when I attempted to move slightly. On the DreamCloud, this was not an issue, and I could reposition easily, aided by a gentle bounce.

Pressure Relief — 4 out of 5 Where is DreamCloud Manufactured

Different body parts exert various amounts of pressure once we lay in bed. Hips and shoulders have more contact with the mattress, particularly for side sleepers. Being a hybrid , the Eurotop and memory materials allow some sinkage into its foam layers, and consequently relieve more pressure in comparison to firmer alternatives. When sleeping on my back, I feel an even distribution of my weight, and the coils offer the support for my lower back. When I am on my side, it is comfortable enough for my shoulders and hips to snuggle into the mattress whilst keeping my spine aligned. I do not sleep on my stomach much, but I felt like I sank too much when I tried it; so it can be the opposite in a sense that there was no pressure to the point of sinkage. That, or I am simply not used to that position.

Edge Support — 4 out of 5

If you make full use of every inch of your mattress, you’d want to do it without rolling off its borders. I found the DreamCloud’s stability to be quite good, but also noted that it was better when lying down instead of when sitting on the edge, which might be attributed to the more even distribution of my weight when spread across a larger area than at one spot.

Motion Transfer — 5 out of 5

Having coils, I was a tad worried that my puppy and I’d be bouncing around the bed at every move we each made throughout our sleep, disturbing the other. I was pleasantly impressed with how well the top layers padded and muffled our movements, even when my dog jumped on the bed while I was on it. My dog is a medium and weighs about 30 kg, so I am not sure how this would translate to sharing a bed with another adult human, but I am pretty happy about this for my own needs.

Final Remarks and FAQ Where is DreamCloud Manufactured

It is utterly important to choose the right bed to make sure you’ll be safe from back pains and get good quality sleep. If you want to live a long and healthy life, sleep has got to be a priority. You’ve just read my reviews on each of the features of DreamCloud, and I’d say that all in all, it is definitely a reliable brand.

That sums up my experience with my 1st ever hybrid bed-in-a-box. Below are some FAQs for those with particular concerns.

Who’d enjoy the DreamCloud?

I’m so happy with it, but like I specified: I mostly sleep on my back and side, and would not recommend it for stomach sleepers. People who often sleep hot will also enjoy the gel-infused memory foam. For those who are fond of the luxury feel of excellent hotel beds, this is a good option for its lavish Eurotop and memory materials that give the sensation of being cradled in clouds. Back support is wonderful, and I have not had any pains to report.

How do I install the DreamCloud?

It’ll be delivered in a box, and is quite heavy; so unless you’re extremely strong, you’ll need some assistance. If you’ll be using a frame or foundation, place the vacuum-sealed mattress on it before you rip it open. You will not require box springs, but this fits most standard sizes; additionally, this can be used on any flat surface (even the floor). Due to the coils, be prepared for some snap as it escapes its container. Allow up to 48 hours for it to completely reshape and adapt to its new area. That’s it!

What is the price range?

Based upon the size, they range from $799 for a Twin up to $1,499 for a King or California King. If you are not in any rush, you may want to await a promo, which they offer quite frequently on their site.

Is it a good investment? Where is DreamCloud Manufactured

For me, it was definitely leaps and bounds better than my old fashioned mattress. I estimate I would have at least a decade with this one, so that counts as a great investment in my book. Besides, for the luxury sleep it has provided me in the past couple of weeks, it’s been more than worth the price.
