What Bed is Comparable to DreamCloud Mattress

Dreamcloud-Review

Buying beds and mattresses used to be a tedious process of trial and error. First, one had to find the time to visit a physical store, and then spend hours laying, pressing, and bouncing on different kinds for feel, comfort, support, and everything else which could offer a fantastic night’s sleep. Sadly, as I’m sure many people have experienced, even those steps aren’t guarantees, because no amount of short-term testing can adequately replicate the lifestyles we live on our beds. Aside from spending a third of our days in that area, there is also the matter of sharing beds with our spouses, kids, and pets; there is sleeping, but also playing, cradling, reading, moms feeding, etc.

For several years, the really good mattresses cost an arm and a leg for the technologies used in their design. If you did not have the funds for it, you were stuck with your run-of-the-mill mattress which later made you toss and turn at night or gave back pains. I know, because this was my issue, and before the era of “everything is on the world wide web,” there just were not that many alternatives. Given what was available, I didn’t have anyone to vouch for each brand’s quality .

Now, the game has completely changed with the introduction of luxury beds-in-boxes, available online and delivered right to your doorstep. One such company that has risen in popularity is the DreamCloud Mattress, and if the name doesn’t entice you, allow me to break it down.

DreamCloud has been around for some years, but their 2019 product really caught my attention. It’s a hybrid that combines memory tech, foam, and coils — all the things which make luxury beds — but at a reasonable budget, vacuum-packed into a box and sent straight to your homes.

Components

The DreamCloud is a 15-inch, 2-toned bed with 5 layers. Each layer serves a specific purpose, so I’ll get into detail below.

Cover

The whole mattress is covered in a blend of cashmere and polyester, giving it a plush and luxurious feel. It’s soft, breathable, and quilted with memory material. This makes it a EuroTop, a more seamless sort of pillow-top that gives a cleaner look; but also serves to prevent shifting or changing its original shape like a traditional pillow top. The memory filling is quite compact, which makes it more durable than its dated counterpart. This outer top layer constitutes 1.5 inches of the composition.

Memory Gel

The 2nd layer is a gel-infused memory foam that allows body contouring and provides pressure relief. This makes up another 1.5 inches of the mattress.

Body contouring gives the feeling of “sinking” into the mattress, which I have mostly associated with 5-star hotel beds. The gel swirl dissipates heat, which really helps in keeping cool on the mattress. For those who, like me, tend to sleep hot in the course of the night, this is vital. The combination of the ventilated cover and the cooling makes a huge difference, and I don’t wake up sweaty before the crack of dawn. What Bed is Comparable to DreamCloud Mattress

Poly Foam

The layer underneath the gel foam is a slightly firmer foam, providing support and body to the mattress. This is especially important for heavier people, to keep from sinking completely into the bed. The moderate firmness of the bed is attributable to this poly foam, counteracting sagging, which commonly leads to body pains. This 2.5-inch layer also acts as a separator for the coils beneath.

Pocketed Coils

Underneath the high-density foam are individually wrapped coils. These modern versions of springs equip the mattress with mobility, allowing sleepers to change positions with ease and not feel “stuck.” Their unique pockets make it so that they can react independently, reducing movement transfer, which is a consideration for those who share beds. In exactly the same vein, the coils are braced around the edges, strengthening the perimeter of the bed and maximizing the whole space without collapsing. The coils constitute more than half of the mattress’s makeup at 8 inches.

Base Foam

At the very base of the mattress is 1.5 inches of firm foam. This serves to cushion the coils and act as the foundation.

Ratings by Feature What Bed is Comparable to DreamCloud Mattress

Now that we know what is in a DreamCloud, let us see how all its components combine in some of the attributes we look for in a bed. Everybody will have a different experience when it comes to talks on firmness, mobility, pressure relief, edge support, and movement transfer, since these features are dependent on the person’s body weight, build, and sleeping preferences. To help understand my personal ratings, please be aware that I weigh about 120 pounds, and am a combination back and side sleeper, often favoring the latter.

Firmness — 5 out of 5

I start with this because I have lower back problems, which were largely caused by my previous bed of over 1 decade. I didn’t take the time to observe that the bed had sagged considerably in the middle section, and I was sleeping with poor skeletal support.

The DreamCloud has medium firmness, which gives me the adequate balance of comfort and support that I am looking for. It is firm enough to ensure that my spine is not compromised, and factoring in its Eurotop cover, gives me a nice “sinking into the bed” feel that I love.

I reiterate that if you’re bigger and heavier than I am, it is likely that the DreamCloud may feel softer, as your body sinks more significantly into the mattress.

Mobility — 5 out of 5

One of my sleeping habits is also shifting a lot during the evening. I’m a combination sleeper and switch between back and side sleeping. I’ve had beds which were too soft and static that made it feel like drowning when I tried to move slightly. On the DreamCloud, this was not a problem, and I could reposition easily, aided by a gentle bounce.

Pressure Relief — 4 out of 5 What Bed is Comparable to DreamCloud Mattress

Different body parts exert various amounts of pressure when we lay in bed. Hips and shoulders have more contact with the bed, particularly for side sleepers. Being a hybrid , the Eurotop and memory materials allow some sinkage into its foam layers, and consequently alleviate more pressure in comparison to firmer alternatives. When sleeping on my back, I feel an even distribution of my weight, and the coils offer the support for my lower back. When I am on my side, it is comfortable enough for my shoulders and hips to snuggle into the mattress whilst keeping my spine aligned. I don’t sleep on my stomach much, but I felt like I sank too much when I attempted it; so it may be the opposite in a sense that there wasn’t any pressure to the point of sinkage. That, or I’m simply not used to that position.

Edge Support — 4 out of 5

If you make full use of every inch of your mattress, you’d want to do it without rolling off its edges. I found the DreamCloud’s stability to be rather good, but also noted that it was better when lying down rather than when sitting on the edge, which might be due to the more even distribution of my weight when spread across a larger area than at one spot.

Motion Transfer — 5 out of 5

Having coils, I was somewhat worried that my puppy and I would be bouncing around the bed at every move we each made during our sleep, disturbing the other. I was impressed with how well the top layers cushioned and muffled our movements, even when my dog jumped on the bed while I was on it. My dog is a medium and weighs around 30 kg, so I’m not sure how this would translate to sharing a bed with another adult individual, but I’m pretty happy about this for my own needs.

Final Remarks and FAQ What Bed is Comparable to DreamCloud Mattress

It is utterly important to choose the right bed to make sure you’ll be safe from back pains and get good quality sleep. If you want to live a long and healthy life, sleep has got to be a priority. You’ve just read my reviews on each of the features of DreamCloud, and I’d say that all in all, it is definitely a reliable brand.

That sums up my experience with my 1st ever hybrid bed-in-a-box. Below are some FAQs for those with particular concerns.

Who would enjoy the DreamCloud?

I’m so satisfied with it, but like I specifiedI mostly sleep on my back and side, and wouldn’t recommend it for stomach sleepers. Those who tend to sleep hot will also enjoy the gel-infused memory foam. For those who are fond of the luxury feel of excellent hotel beds, this is a fantastic alternative for its plush Eurotop and memory materials that give the sensation of being cradled in clouds. Back support is wonderful, and I have not had any pains to report.

How do I set up the DreamCloud?

It is going to be delivered in a box, and is quite heavy; so unless you are extremely strong, you will need some assistance. If you’re going to be using a frame or base, put the vacuum-sealed mattress on it before you rip it open. You will not need box springs, but this fits most standard sizes; additionally, this can be used on any flat surface (even the floor). Because of the coils, be prepared for some snap when it escapes its own container. Allow up to 48 hours for it to completely reshape and adapt to its new area. That’s it!

What is the price range?

Based upon the size, they range from $799 for a Twin up to $1,499 for a King or California King. If you’re not in any hurry, you might want to wait for a discount, which they offer quite frequently on their website.

Is it a great investment? What Bed is Comparable to DreamCloud Mattress

For me, it was definitely leaps and bounds better than my old fashioned mattress. I estimate I would have at least a decade with this one, so that counts as a good investment in my book. Besides, for the luxurious sleep it has provided me in the past couple of weeks, it has been more than worth the price.
