Dreamcloud-Review

Buying beds and mattresses used to be a tedious process of trial and error. First, one had to find the time to visit a physical store, and then spend hours laying, pressing, and bouncing on different kinds for feel, comfort, support, and everything else which could provide a fantastic night’s sleep. Sadly, as I’m sure many people have experienced, even those steps aren’t guarantees, because no amount of short-term testing can satisfactorily replicate the lives we live on our beds. Aside from spending a third of our days in that space, there’s also the matter of sharing beds with our partners, kids, and pets; there is sleeping, but also playing, cradling, reading, moms feeding, etc.

For many decades, the really excellent mattresses cost an arm and a leg for the technologies used in their design. If you didn’t have the funds for it, you were stuck with your run-of-the-mill mattress that later made you toss and turn at night or gave you back pains. I know, because this was my issue, and before the era of “everything is on the internet,” there just were not that many options. Given what was available, I did not have anyone to vouch for each brand’s quality either.

Now, the game has completely changed with the addition of luxury beds-in-boxes, available online and delivered right to your doorstep. One such company that has risen in popularity is the DreamCloud Mattress, and if the name alone doesn’t entice you, allow me to break it down.

DreamCloud Mattress Reviews of DreamCloud Mattresses

DreamCloud has been around for some years, but their 2019 product really caught my attention. It’s a hybrid mattress that combines memory technology, foam, and coils — all the things which make luxury beds — but at an affordable budget, vacuum-packed into a box and shipped straight to your houses.

Components

The DreamCloud is a 15-inch, 2-toned bed with 5 layers. Each layer serves a particular purpose, so I will get into detail below.

Cover

The entire mattress is covered in a blend of cashmere and polyester, giving it a plush and luxurious feel. It’s soft, breathable, and quilted with memory material. This makes it a EuroTop, a more seamless type of pillow-top that gives a cleaner look; but also functions to prevent shifting or changing its original shape like a traditional pillow top. The memory filling is quite compact, which makes it more durable than its obsolete counterpart. This outer top layer makes up 1.5 inches of the composition.

Memory Gel

The 2nd layer is a gel-infused memory foam that allows body contouring and provides pressure relief. This makes up another 1.5 inches of the mattress.

Body contouring gives the feeling of “sinking” into the bed, which I have mostly associated with 5-star hotel beds. The gel swirl dissipates heat, which really helps in keeping cool on the bed. For those who, like me, tend to sleep hot in the course of the night, this is vital. The combination of the ventilated cover along with the cooling gel makes a huge difference, and I don’t wake up sweaty before the crack of dawn. Reviews of DreamCloud Mattresses

Poly Foam

The layer underneath the gel foam is a slightly firmer foam, providing support and body to the mattress. This is especially important for heavier individuals, to keep from sinking completely into the bed. The medium firmness of the bed is attributable to the poly foam, counteracting sagging, which commonly leads to body pains. This 2.5-inch layer also acts as a separator for the coils beneath.

Pocketed Coils

Underneath the high-density foam are individually wrapped coils. These modern versions of springs equip the mattress with mobility, allowing sleepers to change positions with ease and not feel “stuck.” Their individual pockets make it so they can react independently, reducing motion transfer, which is a consideration for people who share beds. In exactly the same vein, the coils are braced around the borders, strengthening the perimeter of this bed and maximizing the entire space without collapsing. The coils make up more than half of the mattress’s makeup at 8 inches.

Base Foam

At the very bottom of the mattress is 1.5 inches of firm foam. This serves to cushion the coils and act as the foundation.

Ratings by Feature Reviews of DreamCloud Mattresses

Now that we know what’s in a DreamCloud, let us see how all its elements combine in some of the attributes we look for in a mattress. Everyone will have a different experience when it comes to talks on stability, freedom, pressure relief, edge support, and movement transfer, because these features are determined by the individual’s body weight, build, and sleeping preferences. To help understand my personal ratings, please note that I weigh about 120 lbs, and am a combination back and side sleeper, often favoring the latter.

Firmness — 5 out of 5

I start with this because I have lower back problems, which were mostly caused by my previous bed of more than 1 decade. I didn’t take the time to notice that the bed had sagged considerably in the center section, and I was sleeping with poor skeletal support.

The DreamCloud has medium firmness, which gives me the adequate balance of comfort and support that I’m searching for. It’s firm enough to make certain that my spine isn’t compromised, and factoring in its Eurotop cover, gives me a nice “sinking into the bed” feel that I love.

I reiterate that if you are larger and heavier than I am, it is possible that the DreamCloud may feel softer, as your body sinks more significantly into the mattress.

Mobility — 5 out of 5

One of my sleeping habits is also shifting a lot through the night. I am a combination sleeper and change between back and side sleeping. I’ve had beds which were too soft and static that made it feel like drowning when I attempted to move slightly. On the DreamCloud, this was not an issue, and I could reposition easily, aided by a mild bounce.

Stress Relief — 4 out of 5 Reviews of DreamCloud Mattresses

Different body parts exert different amounts of pressure when we lay in bed. Hips and shoulders have more contact with the bed, especially for side sleepers. Being a hybrid mattress, the Eurotop and memory materials allow some sinkage into its foam layers, and consequently relieve more pressure compared to firmer alternatives. When sleeping on my back, I feel an even distribution of my weight, and the coils provide the support for my lower back. When I am on my side, it is comfortable enough for my shoulders and hips to snuggle into the mattress whilst keeping my spine aligned. I do not sleep on my stomach much, but I felt like I sank too much when I attempted it; so it may be the reverse in a sense that there wasn’t any pressure to the point of sinkage. That, or I’m simply not used to this position.

Edge Support — 4 out of 5

Should you make full use of every inch of your mattress, you’d want to do it without rolling off its edges. I found the DreamCloud’s stability to be rather good, but also noticed that it was better when lying down instead of when sitting on the edge, which may be attributed to the better distribution of my weight when spread across a larger area than at 1 spot.

Motion Transfer — 5 out of 5

Having coils, I was somewhat worried that my dog and I’d be bouncing around the mattress at every move we made throughout our sleep, disturbing the other. I was pleasantly impressed by how well the top layers cushioned and muffled our movements, even when my dog jumped on the bed while I was on it. My dog is a medium and weighs about 30 kg, so I am not sure how this would translate to sharing a bed with another adult human, but I am pretty happy about this for my own needs.

Final Remarks and FAQ Reviews of DreamCloud Mattresses

It is utterly important to choose the right bed to make sure you’ll be safe from back pains and get good quality sleep. If you want to live a long and healthy life, sleep has got to be a priority. You’ve just read my reviews on each of the features of DreamCloud, and I’d say that all in all, it is definitely a reliable brand.

That sums up my experience with my 1st ever hybrid bed-in-a-box. Below are some FAQs for those of you with particular concerns.

Who would enjoy the DreamCloud?

I’m so happy with it, but like I specifiedI mostly sleep on my side and back, and would not recommend it for stomach sleepers. Those who often sleep hot will also enjoy the gel-infused memory foam. For those persons who are fond of the luxury feel of excellent hotel beds, this is a fantastic option for its lavish Eurotop and memory materials that give the sensation of being cradled in clouds. Back support is wonderful, and I have not had any pains to report.

How do I install the DreamCloud?

It’ll be delivered in a box, and is quite heavy; so unless you are extremely strong, you will need some assistance. If you’ll be using a frame or foundation, place the vacuum-sealed mattress on it before you tear it open. You will not need box springs, but this fits most standard sizes; additionally, this can be used on any flat surface (even the flooring ). Due to the coils, be prepared for some snap when it escapes its own container. Allow up to 48 hours for it to completely reshape and adjust to its new area. That’s it!

What’s the price range?

Based upon the size, they range from $799 for a Twin up to $1,499 for a King or California King. If you’re not in any hurry, you might want to await a promo, which they provide quite frequently on their website.

Is it a good investment? Reviews of DreamCloud Mattresses

For me, it was definitely leaps and bounds better than my age-old mattress. I estimate I’d have at least a decade with this one, so that counts as a great investment in my book. Besides, for the luxury sleep it has provided me in the last few weeks, it has been more than worth the cost.
