Dreamcloud-Review

Purchasing beds and mattresses used to be a tedious process of trial and error. First, one had to find the time to visit a physical store, and then spend hours laying, pressing, and bouncing on different kinds for feel, comfort, support, and everything else which could provide a good night’s sleep. Sadly, as I am sure many people have experienced, even those measures are not guarantees, because no amount of short-term testing can satisfactorily replicate the lives we live on our beds. Apart from spending a third of our days in that space, there is also the matter of sharing beds with our partners, children, and pets; there’s sleeping, but also playing, cradling, reading, mothers feeding, and so on.

For several years, the really excellent mattresses cost an arm and a leg for the technologies used in their design. If you did not have the budget for it, you were stuck with your run-of-the-mill mattress which later made you toss and turn at night or gave you back pains. I know, since this was my issue, and before the era of “it’s all on the internet,” there just weren’t that many alternatives. Given what was available, I didn’t have anyone to vouch for every brand’s quality .

Now, the game has completely changed with the introduction of luxury beds-in-boxes, available online and delivered directly to your doorstep. One such company that has risen in popularity is the DreamCloud Mattress, and if the name alone doesn’t entice you, allow me to break it down.

DreamCloud Mattress Is Nectar and DreamCloud the Same Company

DreamCloud has been around for some years, but their 2019 product is what caught my attention. It’s a hybrid that combines memory technology, foam, and coils — all the things which make luxury beds — but at a reasonable price range, vacuum-packed into a box and sent straight to your homes.

Components

The DreamCloud is a 15-inch, 2-toned bed with 5 layers. Each layer serves a specific purpose, so I’ll get into detail below.

Cover

The entire mattress is covered in a blend of cashmere and polyester, giving it a plush and luxurious feel. It’s soft, breathable, and quilted with memory material. This makes it a EuroTop, a more seamless type of pillow-top that provides a cleaner look; but also serves to prevent shifting or changing its original shape like a traditional pillow top. The memory filling is quite compact, making it more durable than its dated counterpart. This outer top layer constitutes 1.5 inches of the composition.

Memory Gel

The 2nd layer is a gel-infused memory foam which allows body contouring and provides pressure relief. This constitutes another 1.5 inches of the mattress.

Body contouring gives the sensation of “sinking” into the bed, which I have mostly associated with 5-star hotel beds. The gel swirl dissipates heat, which really helps in keeping cool on the bed. For those who, like me, tend to sleep hot in the course of the night, this is vital. The combination of the ventilated cover and the cooling gel makes a huge difference, and I don’t wake up sweaty before the crack of dawn. Is Nectar and DreamCloud the Same Company

Poly Foam

The layer underneath the gel foam is a slightly firmer foam, providing support and body to the mattress. This is especially important for heavier individuals, to keep from sinking entirely into the bed. The moderate firmness of the bed is attributable to the poly foam, counteracting sagging, which commonly leads to body pains. This 2.5-inch layer also acts as a separator for the coils beneath.

Pocketed Coils

Under the high-density foam are individually wrapped coils. These modern versions of springs equip the mattress with mobility, allowing sleepers to change positions with ease and not feel “stuck.” Their individual pockets make it so they can react independently, reducing motion transfer, which is a consideration for those who share beds. In the same vein, the coils are braced round the borders, strengthening the perimeter of the bed and maximizing the entire space without collapsing. The coils make up more than half of the bed’s composition at 8 inches.

Base Foam

At the very bottom of this mattress is 1.5 inches of firm foam. This serves to cushion the coils and act as the base.

Ratings by Feature Is Nectar and DreamCloud the Same Company

Now that we know what is in a DreamCloud, let’s see how all its components combine in some of the features we look for in a mattress. Everybody will have a different experience when it comes to discussions on stability, freedom, pressure relief, edge support, and movement transfer, because these features are determined by the person’s body weight, build, and sleeping preferences. To help understand my personal ratings, please note that I weigh about 120 lbs, and am a mix back and side sleeper, often favoring the latter.

Firmness — 5 out of 5

I start with this because I have lower back problems, which have been mostly due to my previous bed of over 1 decade. I didn’t take the time to observe that the mattress had sagged considerably in the middle section, and I was sleeping with poor skeletal support.

The DreamCloud has medium firmness, which gives me the adequate balance of support and comfort that I’m searching for. It is firm enough to make certain that my spine is not compromised, and factoring in its Eurotop cover, gives me a nice “sinking into the bed” feel that I adore.

I reiterate that if you are larger and heavier than I am, it’s likely that the DreamCloud may feel softer, as your body sinks more significantly into the mattress.

Mobility — 5 out of 5

Among my sleeping habits is also shifting a lot through the evening. I’m a combination sleeper and change between back and side sleeping. I’ve had beds which were too soft and static that made it feel like drowning when I attempted to move slightly. On the DreamCloud, this was not a problem, and I could reposition easily, aided by a gentle bounce.

Stress Relief — 4 out of 5 Is Nectar and DreamCloud the Same Company

Different body parts exert different amounts of pressure when we lay in bed. Hips and shoulders have more contact with the mattress, especially for side sleepers. Being a hybrid , the Eurotop and memory materials allow some sinkage into its foam layers, and consequently relieve more pressure in comparison to firmer alternatives. When sleeping on my back, I feel an even distribution of my weight, and the coils offer the support for my lower back. When I’m on my side, it’s comfortable enough for my shoulders and hips to snuggle in the mattress whilst keeping my spine aligned. I don’t sleep on my stomach much, but I felt like I sank too much when I attempted it; so it may be the reverse in a sense that there wasn’t any pressure to the point of sinkage. That, or I am simply not used to this position.

Edge Support — 4 out of 5

Should you make full use of every inch of your bed, you would want to do it without falling off its borders. I found the DreamCloud’s stability to be quite good, but also noted that it was better when lying down instead of when sitting on the edge, which might be attributed to the more even distribution of my weight when spread across a larger area than at one spot.

Motion Transfer — 5 out of 5

Having coils, I was somewhat worried that my dog and I’d be bouncing around the mattress at every move we made during our sleep, disturbing the other. I was impressed with how well the top layers padded and muffled our movements, even when my dog jumped on the bed while I was on it. My dog is a medium and weighs about 30 kg, so I am not sure how this would translate to sharing a bed with another adult individual, but I’m pretty happy about this for my own needs.

Final Remarks and FAQ Is Nectar and DreamCloud the Same Company

It is utterly important to choose the right bed to make sure you’ll be safe from back pains and get good quality sleep. If you want to live a long and healthy life, sleep has got to be a priority. You’ve just read my reviews on each of the features of DreamCloud, and I’d say that all in all, it is definitely a reliable brand.

That sums up my experience with my 1st ever hybrid bed-in-a-box. Here are some FAQs for those with particular concerns.

Who’d enjoy the DreamCloud?

I’m so happy with it, but like I specified: I mostly sleep on my side and back, and would not recommend it for stomach sleepers. Those who tend to sleep hot will also enjoy the gel-infused memory foam. For those persons who are fond of the luxury feel of excellent hotel beds, this is a fantastic alternative for its plush Eurotop and memory substances that give the feeling of being cradled in clouds. Back support is wonderful, and I haven’t had any pains to report.

How do I install the DreamCloud?

It’ll be delivered in a box, and is quite heavy; so unless you’re extremely strong, you’ll need some assistance. If you’re going to be using a frame or base, place the vacuum-sealed mattress on it before you rip it open. You will not require box springs, but this fits most standard sizes; additionally, this can be used on any flat surface (even the flooring ). Because of the coils, be prepared for some snap as it escapes its container. Allow up to 48 hours for it to completely reshape and adapt to its new area. That’s it!

What is the price range?

Based on the size, they range from $799 for a Twin up to $1,499 for a King or California King. If you’re not in any rush, you might want to await a discount, which they offer quite frequently on their site.

Is it a good investment? Is Nectar and DreamCloud the Same Company

For me, it was definitely leaps and bounds better than my old fashioned mattress. I estimate I would have at least a decade with this one, so that counts as a good investment in my book. Besides, for the luxury sleep it’s provided me in the past few weeks, it has been more than worth the cost.
