Dreamcloud-Review

Purchasing beds and mattresses used to be a tedious process of trial and error. First, one had to find the time to visit a physical store, and then spend hours laying, pressing, and bouncing on various kinds for feel, comfort, support, and everything else that could offer a fantastic night’s sleep. Sadly, as I am sure many people have experienced, even those measures are not guarantees, since no amount of short-term testing can satisfactorily replicate the lives we live on our beds. Apart from spending a third of our days in that area, there is also the matter of sharing beds with our spouses, children, and pets; there is sleeping, but also playing, cradling, reading, moms feeding, and so on.

For several decades, the really good mattresses cost an arm and a leg for the technologies used in their design. If you did not have the funds for it, you’re stuck with your run-of-the-mill mattress which eventually made you toss and turn at night or gave back pains. I know, because this was my issue, and before the era of “everything is on the internet,” there just weren’t that many alternatives. Given what was available, I didn’t have anyone to vouch for every brand’s quality .

Now, the game has completely changed with the addition of luxury beds-in-boxes, available online and delivered right to your doorstep. One such company that has risen in popularity is the DreamCloud Mattress, and if the name alone doesn’t entice you, allow me to break it down.

DreamCloud Mattress Is DreamCloud Same as Nectar

DreamCloud has existed for some years, but their 2019 product really caught my attention. It is a hybrid mattress that combines memory technology, foam, and coils — all of the things that make luxury beds — but at a reasonable price range, vacuum-packed into a box and shipped straight to your homes.

Components

The DreamCloud is a 15-inch, 2-toned mattress with 5 layers. Each layer serves a specific purpose, so I’ll get into detail below.

Cover

The whole mattress is covered in a blend of cashmere and polyester, giving it a plush and luxurious feel. It’s soft, breathable, and quilted with memory material. This makes it a EuroTop, a more seamless sort of pillow-top that provides a cleaner look; but also serves to prevent shifting or losing its original shape like a conventional pillow top. The memory filling is quite compact, which makes it more durable than its obsolete counterpart. This outer top layer constitutes 1.5 inches of the composition.

Memory Gel

The 2nd layer is a gel-infused memory foam that allows body contouring and provides pressure relief. This constitutes another 1.5 inches of the mattress.

Body contouring gives the feeling of “sinking” into the mattress, which I’ve mostly associated with 5-star hotel beds. The gel swirl dissipates heat, which helps in keeping cool on the mattress. For those who, like me, tend to sleep hot in the course of the night, this is vital. The combination of the ventilated cover along with the cooling gel makes a massive difference, and I don’t wake up sweaty before the crack of dawn. Is DreamCloud Same as Nectar

Poly Foam

The layer underneath the gel foam is a slightly firmer foam, providing body and support to the mattress. This is particularly important for heavier people, to keep from sinking entirely into the bed. The moderate firmness of the bed is attributable to this poly foam, counteracting sagging, which commonly leads to body pains. This 2.5-inch layer also serves as a separator for the coils underneath.

Pocketed Coils

Under the high-density foam are individually wrapped coils. These modern versions of springs equip the mattress with mobility, allowing sleepers to change positions with ease and not feel “stuck.” Their individual pockets make it so they can move independently, reducing movement transfer, which is a consideration for people who share beds. In the same vein, the coils are braced around the borders, strengthening the perimeter of this bed and maximizing the entire space without collapsing. The coils constitute more than half of the mattress’s makeup at 8 inches.

Base Foam

At the very bottom of the mattress is 1.5 inches of firm foam. This serves to cushion the coils and act as the foundation.

Ratings by Feature Is DreamCloud Same as Nectar

Now that we know what is in a DreamCloud, let’s see how all its components combine in some of the features we look for in a bed. Everybody will have a different experience when it comes to talks on firmness, mobility, pressure relief, edge support, and movement transfer, because these features are dependent on the person’s body weight, build, and sleeping preferences. To help understand my personal evaluations, please note that I weigh roughly 120 lbs, and am a mix back and side sleeper, often favoring the latter.

Firmness — 5 out of 5

I start with this because I have lower back problems, which have been mostly caused by my previous bed of over 1 decade. I didn’t take the time to notice that the bed had sagged considerably in the middle section, and I had been sleeping with poor skeletal support.

The DreamCloud has medium firmness, which gives me the adequate balance of support and comfort that I am searching for. It is firm enough to ensure that my spine isn’t compromised, and factoring in its Eurotop cover, gives me a nice “sinking into the bed” feel that I adore.

I reiterate that if you are bigger and heavier than I am, it’s possible that the DreamCloud may feel softer, as your body sinks more significantly into the mattress.

Mobility — 5 out of 5

Among my sleeping habits is also shifting a lot through the night. I am a combination sleeper and change between back and side sleeping. I’ve had beds which were too soft and static that made it feel like drowning when I attempted to move slightly. On the DreamCloud, this wasn’t a problem, and I could reposition easily, aided by a mild bounce.

Stress Relief — 4 out of 5 Is DreamCloud Same as Nectar

Different body parts exert various amounts of pressure once we lay in bed. Hips and shoulders have more contact with the mattress, especially for side sleepers. Being a hybrid mattress, the Eurotop and memory materials allow some sinkage into its foam layers, and consequently relieve more pressure compared to firmer alternatives. When sleeping on my back, I feel an even distribution of my weight, and the coils provide the support for my lower back. When I am on my side, it is comfortable enough for my shoulders and hips to snuggle in the mattress whilst keeping my spine aligned. I don’t sleep on my stomach much, but I felt like I sank too much when I attempted it; so it may be the opposite in a sense that there was no pressure to the point of sinkage. That, or I’m simply not used to that position.

Edge Support — 4 out of 5

Should you make full use of every inch of your mattress, you would want to do it without falling off its borders. I found the DreamCloud’s stability to be quite good, but also noted that it was better when lying down instead of when sitting on the edge, which might be attributed to the more even distribution of my weight when spread across a larger area than in one spot.

Motion Transfer — 5 out of 5

Having coils, I was a tad worried that my puppy and I would be bouncing around the mattress at each move we each made throughout our sleep, disturbing the other. I was impressed by how well the top layers padded and muffled our movements, even when my dog jumped on the bed while I was on it. My dog is a medium and weighs about 30 kg, so I’m not sure how this would translate to sharing a bed with another adult individual, but I’m pretty happy about this for my own needs.

Final Remarks and FAQ Is DreamCloud Same as Nectar

It is utterly important to choose the right bed to make sure you’ll be safe from back pains and get good quality sleep. If you want to live a long and healthy life, sleep has got to be a priority. You’ve just read my reviews on each of the features of DreamCloud, and I’d say that all in all, it is definitely a reliable brand.

That sums up my experience with my 1st ever hybrid bed-in-a-box. Below are some FAQs for those with particular concerns.

Who would enjoy the DreamCloud?

I’m so happy with it, but like I specified: I mostly sleep on my side and back, and would not recommend it for stomach sleepers. People who tend to sleep hot will also enjoy the gel-infused memory foam. For those who are fond of the luxury feel of excellent hotel beds, this is a good option for its plush Eurotop and memory substances that provide the feeling of being cradled in clouds. Back support is wonderful, and I have not had any pains to report.

How do I install the DreamCloud?

It’ll be delivered in a box, and is quite heavy; so unless you’re extremely strong, you’ll need some assistance. If you’ll be using a bed frame or foundation, put the vacuum-sealed mattress on it before you rip it open. You will not require box springs, but this fits most standard sizes; additionally, this can be used on any flat surface (even the floor). Due to the coils, be prepared for some snap as it escapes its container. Allow up to 48 hours for it to completely reshape and adjust to its new space. That’s it!

What’s the price range?

Based upon the size, they range from $799 for a Twin up to $1,499 for a King or California King. If you are not in any rush, you might want to wait for a discount, which they provide quite frequently on their site.

Is it a good investment? Is DreamCloud Same as Nectar

For me, it was definitely leaps and bounds better than my age-old mattress. I estimate I’d have at least a decade with this one, so that counts as a good investment in my book. Besides, for the luxurious sleep it’s provided me in the past few weeks, it has been more than worth the price.
