Buying beds and mattresses used to be a tedious process of trial and error. First, one had to find the time to visit a physical store, and then spend hours laying, pressing, and bouncing on different models for feel, comfort, support, and everything else which could provide a fantastic night’s sleep. Sadly, as I am sure many of us have experienced, even those steps aren’t guarantees, since no amount of short-term testing can adequately replicate the lives we live on our beds. Apart from spending a third of our days in that space, there is also the matter of sharing beds with our spouses, children, and pets; there is sleeping, but also playing, cradling, reading, mothers feeding, and so on.
For several decades, the really good mattresses cost an arm and a leg for the technologies used in their design. If you didn’t have the budget for it, you’re stuck with your run-of-the-mill mattress that eventually made you toss and turn at night or gave you back pains. I know, because this was my issue, and before the era of “it’s all on the internet,” there just weren’t that many alternatives. Given what was available, I didn’t have anyone to vouch for every brand’s quality either.
Now, the game has completely changed with the introduction of luxury beds-in-boxes, available online and delivered directly to your doorstep. One such company that has risen in popularity is the DreamCloud Mattress, and if the name doesn’t entice you, allow me to break it down.

DreamCloud has existed for some decades, but their 2019 product really caught my attention. It is a hybrid mattress that combines memory technology, foam, and coils — all of the things that make luxury beds — but at a reasonable budget, vacuum-packed into a box and shipped straight to your homes.

The DreamCloud is a 15-inch, 2-toned bed with 5 layers. Each layer serves a particular purpose, so I will get into detail below.
The entire mattress is covered in a blend of cashmere and polyester, giving it a plush and luxurious feel. It is soft, breathable, and quilted with memory material. This makes it a EuroTop, a more seamless sort of pillow-top that provides a cleaner look; but also functions to prevent shifting or changing its original shape like a traditional pillow top. The memory filling is quite compact, which makes it more durable than its obsolete counterpart. This outer top layer constitutes 1.5 inches of the composition.
The 2nd layer is a gel-infused memory foam that allows body contouring and provides pressure relief. This makes up another 1.5 inches of the mattress.
Body contouring gives the feeling of “sinking” into the mattress, which I’ve mostly associated with 5-star hotel beds. The gel swirl dissipates heat, which helps in keeping cool on the mattress. For those who, like me, often sleep hot in the course of the night, this is vital. The combination of the ventilated cover along with the cooling makes a massive difference, and I don’t wake up sweaty before the crack of dawn. DreamCloud Triple Protection Waterproof Mattress Pad
The layer underneath the gel foam is a slightly firmer foam, providing support and body to the mattress. This is especially important for heavier individuals, to keep from sinking completely into the bed. The medium firmness of the bed is attributable to this poly foam, counteracting sagging, which commonly causes body pains. This 2.5-inch layer also acts as a separator for the coils underneath.
Underneath the high-density foam are individually wrapped coils. These modern versions of springs equip the mattress with mobility, allowing sleepers to shift positions without difficulty and not feel “stuck.” Their individual pockets make it so that they can move independently, reducing motion transfer, which is a consideration for people who share beds. In exactly the same vein, the coils are braced around the edges, strengthening the perimeter of this bed and maximizing the whole space without collapsing. The coils make up more than half of the bed’s makeup at 8 inches.
At the very bottom of this mattress is 1.5 inches of firm foam. This serves to cushion the coils and act as the base.
Ratings by Feature DreamCloud Triple Protection Waterproof Mattress Pad
Now that we know what is in a DreamCloud, let us see how all its elements combine in some of the features we look for in a bed. Everybody will have a different experience when it comes to discussions on firmness, freedom, pressure relief, edge support, and movement transfer, since these features are determined by the individual’s body weight, build, and sleeping preferences. To help understand my personal ratings, please be aware that I weigh roughly 120 lbs, and am a mix back and side sleeper, often favoring the latter.
Firmness — 5 out of 5
I start with this because I have lower back problems, which were largely due to my previous bed of more than 1 decade. I didn’t take the time to observe that the mattress had sagged considerably from the middle section, and I had been sleeping with poor skeletal support.
The DreamCloud has medium firmness, which gives me the adequate balance of comfort and support that I am looking for. It’s firm enough to ensure that my spine is not compromised, and factoring in its Eurotop cover, gives me a nice “sinking into the bed” feel that I love.
I reiterate that if you’re larger and heavier than I am, it is likely that the DreamCloud may feel softer, as your body sinks more significantly into the mattress.

Mobility — 5 out of 5
Among my sleeping habits is also shifting a lot during the evening. I’m a combination sleeper and switch between back and side sleeping. I’ve had beds which were too soft and static that made it feel like drowning when I attempted to move slightly. On the DreamCloud, this was not an issue, and I could reposition easily, aided by a mild bounce.
Pressure Relief — 4 out of 5 DreamCloud Triple Protection Waterproof Mattress Pad
Different body parts exert various amounts of pressure once we lay in bed. Hips and shoulders have more contact with the mattress, especially for side sleepers. Being a hybrid mattress, the Eurotop and memory materials allow some sinkage into its foam layers, and consequently alleviate more pressure compared to firmer alternatives. When sleeping on my back, I feel an even distribution of my weight, and the coils provide the support for my lower back. When I am on my side, it’s comfortable enough for my shoulders and hips to snuggle into the mattress whilst keeping my spine aligned. I don’t sleep on my stomach much, but I felt like I sank too much when I tried it; so it may be the reverse in a sense that there wasn’t any pressure to the point of sinkage. That, or I’m just not used to this position.
Edge Support — 4 out of 5
If you make full use of every inch of your bed, you would want to do it without falling off its borders. I found the DreamCloud’s stability to be quite good, but also noticed that it was better when lying down instead of when sitting on the edge, which might be attributed to the better distribution of my weight when spread across a larger area than at one spot.
Motion Transfer — 5 out of 5
Having coils, I was a tad worried that my puppy and I’d be bouncing around the mattress at every move we made throughout our sleep, disturbing the other. I was impressed with how well the top layers padded and muffled our moves, even when my dog jumped on the bed while I was on it. My dog is a medium and weighs about 30 kg, so I am not sure how this could translate to sharing a bed with another adult human, but I’m pretty happy about this for my own needs.
Final Remarks and FAQ DreamCloud Triple Protection Waterproof Mattress Pad
It is utterly important to choose the right bed to make sure you’ll be safe from back pains and get good quality sleep. If you want to live a long and healthy life, sleep has got to be a priority. You’ve just read my reviews on each of the features of DreamCloud, and I’d say that all in all, it is definitely a reliable brand.
That sums up my experience with my 1st ever hybrid bed-in-a-box. Below are some FAQs for those with particular concerns.
Who would enjoy the DreamCloud?
I’m so happy with it, but like I specifiedI mostly sleep on my side and back, and would not recommend it for stomach sleepers. Those who tend to sleep hot will also enjoy the gel-infused memory foam. For those persons who are fond of the luxury feel of excellent hotel beds, this is a good alternative for its plush Eurotop and memory substances that provide the feeling of being cradled in clouds. Back support is wonderful, and I have not had any pains to report.
How do I set up the DreamCloud?
It’ll be delivered in a box, and is quite heavy; so unless you are extremely strong, you’ll need some assistance. If you’ll be using a bed frame or foundation, put the vacuum-sealed mattress on it before you tear it open. You will not need box springs, but this fits most standard sizes; additionally, this can be used on any flat surface (even the flooring ). Because of the coils, be prepared for some snap as it escapes its container. Allow up to 48 hours for it to completely reshape and adapt to its new area. That’s it!
What is the price range?
Depending on the size, they range from $799 for a Twin up to $1,499 for a King or California King. If you’re not in any rush, you may want to wait for a promo, which they offer quite frequently on their site.
Is it a good investment? DreamCloud Triple Protection Waterproof Mattress Pad
For me, it was definitely leaps and bounds better than my old fashioned mattress. I estimate I would have at least a decade with this one, so that counts as a good investment in my book. Besides, for the luxury sleep it’s provided me in the last couple of weeks, it has been more than worth the price.
