Buying beds and mattresses used to be a tedious process of trial and error. First, one had to find the time to go to a physical store, and then spend hours laying, pressing, and bouncing on different kinds for feel, comfort, support, and everything else that could provide a good night’s sleep. Sadly, as I’m sure many of us have experienced, even those steps aren’t guarantees, because no amount of short-term testing can adequately replicate the lives we live on our beds. Apart from spending a third of our days in that area, there is also the matter of sharing beds with our spouses, children, and pets; there’s sleeping, but also playing, cradling, reading, moms feeding, and so on.
For several decades, the really excellent mattresses cost an arm and a leg for the technologies used in their design. If you didn’t have the funds for it, you’re stuck with your run-of-the-mill mattress that later made you toss and turn at night or gave you back pains. I know, because this was my issue, and before the era of “everything is on the internet,” there just weren’t that many alternatives. Given what was available, I didn’t have anyone to vouch for every brand’s quality either.
Now, the game has completely changed with the introduction of luxury beds-in-boxes, available online and delivered directly to your doorstep. One such company that has risen in popularity is the DreamCloud Mattress, and if the name doesn’t entice you, allow me to break it down.

DreamCloud has been around for some decades, but their 2019 product is what caught my attention. It is a hybrid that combines memory technology, foam, and coils — all the things which make luxury beds — but at an affordable budget, vacuum-packed into a box and sent straight to your houses.

The DreamCloud is a 15-inch, 2-toned mattress with 5 layers. Each layer serves a specific purpose, so I’ll get into detail below.
The whole mattress is covered in a blend of cashmere and polyester, giving it a plush and luxurious feel. It’s soft, breathable, and quilted with memory material. This makes it a EuroTop, a more seamless type of pillow-top that provides a cleaner look; but also functions to prevent shifting or changing its original shape like a traditional pillow top. The memory filling is quite dense, which makes it more durable than its obsolete counterpart. This outer top layer constitutes 1.5 inches of the composition.
The 2nd layer is a gel-infused memory foam that allows body contouring and provides pressure relief. This constitutes another 1.5 inches of the mattress.
Body contouring gives the feeling of “sinking” into the mattress, which I’ve mostly associated with 5-star hotel beds. The gel swirl dissipates heat, which helps in keeping cool on the mattress. For those who, like me, often sleep hot in the course of the night, this is essential. The combination of the ventilated cover and the cooling makes a massive difference, and I don’t wake up sweaty before the crack of dawn. DreamCloud Mattresss How Many Coils
The layer underneath the gel foam is a slightly firmer foam, providing body and support to the mattress. This is particularly important for heavier individuals, to keep from sinking completely into the bed. The moderate firmness of the bed is attributable to this poly foam, counteracting sagging, which commonly causes body pains. This 2.5-inch layer also acts as a separator for the coils underneath.
Underneath the high-density foam are individually wrapped coils. These modern versions of springs equip the mattress with mobility, allowing sleepers to change positions without difficulty and not feel “stuck.” Their individual pockets make it so they can react independently, reducing movement transfer, which is a consideration for people who share beds. In exactly the same vein, the coils are braced round the borders, strengthening the perimeter of the bed and maximizing the whole space without collapsing. The coils make up more than half of the bed’s makeup at 8 inches.
At the very bottom of the mattress is 1.5 inches of firm foam. This serves to cushion the coils and act as the base.

Now that we know what’s in a DreamCloud, let us see how all its components combine in a number of the attributes we look for in a bed. Everyone will have a different experience when it comes to talks on stability, freedom, pressure relief, edge support, and movement transfer, because these features are determined by the individual’s body weight, build, and sleeping preferences. To help understand my personal evaluations, please note that I weigh about 120 pounds, and am a combination back and side sleeper, often favoring the latter.
Firmness — 5 out of 5
I start with this because I have lower back problems, which have been mostly due to my previous bed of more than 1 decade. I didn’t take the time to observe that the bed had sagged considerably from the middle section, and I had been sleeping with poor skeletal support.
The DreamCloud has medium firmness, which gives me the adequate balance of support and comfort that I am looking for. It is firm enough to make certain that my spine isn’t compromised, and factoring in its Eurotop cover, gives me a nice “sinking into the bed” feel that I adore.
I reiterate that if you’re bigger and heavier than I am, it is possible that the DreamCloud may feel softer, as your body sinks more significantly into the mattress.

Mobility — 5 out of 5
Among my sleeping habits is also repositioning a lot during the evening. I am a combination sleeper and change between back and side sleeping. I’ve had beds that were too soft and static that made it feel like drowning when I tried to move slightly. On the DreamCloud, this wasn’t an issue, and I could reposition easily, aided by a gentle bounce.
Pressure Relief — 4 out of 5 DreamCloud Mattresss How Many Coils
Different body parts exert different amounts of pressure once we lay in bed. Hips and shoulders have more contact with the bed, especially for side sleepers. Being a hybrid , the Eurotop and memory materials allow some sinkage into its foam layers, and consequently relieve more pressure in comparison to firmer alternatives. When sleeping on my back, I feel an even distribution of my weight, and the coils provide the support for my lower back. When I am on my side, it’s comfortable enough for my shoulders and hips to snuggle into the mattress whilst keeping my spine aligned. I don’t sleep on my stomach much, but I felt like I sank too much when I tried it; so it can be the reverse in a sense that there wasn’t any pressure to the point of sinkage. That, or I’m simply not used to this position.
Edge Support — 4 out of 5
If you make full use of every inch of your mattress, you would want to do it without rolling off its edges. I found the DreamCloud’s stability to be rather good, but also noted that it was better when lying down instead of when sitting on the edge, which might be due to the more even distribution of my weight when spread across a larger area than in one spot.
Motion Transfer — 5 out of 5
Having coils, I was somewhat worried that my dog and I’d be bouncing around the bed at every move we each made throughout our sleep, disturbing the other. I was pleasantly impressed by how well the top layers padded and muffled our moves, even if my dog jumped on the bed while I was on it. My dog is a medium and weighs about 30 kg, so I am not sure how this could translate to sharing a bed with another adult individual, but I’m pretty happy about this for my own needs.
Final Remarks and FAQ DreamCloud Mattresss How Many Coils
It is utterly important to choose the right bed to make sure you’ll be safe from back pains and get good quality sleep. If you want to live a long and healthy life, sleep has got to be a priority. You’ve just read my reviews on each of the features of DreamCloud, and I’d say that all in all, it is definitely a reliable brand.
That sums up my experience with my 1st ever hybrid bed-in-a-box. Below are some FAQs for those with particular concerns.
Who’d enjoy the DreamCloud?
I’m so happy with it, but like I specified: I mostly sleep on my side and back, and would not recommend it for stomach sleepers. Those who often sleep hot will also enjoy the gel-infused memory foam. For those persons who are fond of the luxury feel of excellent hotel beds, this is a fantastic option for its plush Eurotop and memory substances that provide the feeling of being cradled in clouds. Back support is wonderful, and I have not had any pains to report.
How do I install the DreamCloud?
It’ll be delivered in a box, and is quite heavy; so unless you’re extremely strong, you will need some assistance. If you’re going to be using a bed frame or base, put the vacuum-sealed mattress on it before you rip it open. You will not need box springs, but this fits most standard sizes; additionally, this can be used on any flat surface (even the flooring ). Due to the coils, be ready for some snap when it escapes its container. Allow up to 48 hours for it to completely reshape and adapt to its new space. That’s it!
What is the price range?
Depending on the size, they range from $799 for a Twin up to $1,499 for a King or California King. If you’re not in any rush, you may want to wait for a promo, which they offer quite frequently on their site.
Is it a great investment? DreamCloud Mattresss How Many Coils
For me, it was definitely leaps and bounds better than my age-old mattress. I estimate I’d have at least a decade with this one, so that counts as a great investment in my book. Besides, for the luxury sleep it has provided me in the past couple of weeks, it has been more than worth the price.
