DreamCloud Mattress Sleeps Hot

Dreamcloud-Review

Purchasing beds and mattresses used to be a tedious process of trial and error. First, one had to find the time to go to a physical store, and then spend hours laying, pressing, and bouncing on various models for feel, comfort, support, and everything else which could provide a good night’s sleep. Sadly, as I’m sure many people have experienced, even those measures aren’t guarantees, because no amount of short-term testing can adequately replicate the lives we live on our beds. Aside from spending a third of our days in that area, there is also the matter of sharing beds with our partners, kids, and pets; there’s sleeping, but also playing, cradling, reading, mothers feeding, etc.

For several decades, the really excellent mattresses cost an arm and a leg for the technologies used in their design. If you didn’t have the funds for it, you’re stuck with your run-of-the-mill mattress which later made you toss and turn at night or gave back pains. I know, since this was my problem, and before the era of “everything is on the internet,” there just weren’t that many alternatives. Given what was available, I did not have anyone to vouch for each brand’s quality either.

Now, the game has completely changed with the introduction of luxury beds-in-boxes, available online and delivered directly to your doorstep. One such company that has risen in popularity is the DreamCloud Mattress, and if the name alone doesn’t entice you, allow me to break it down.

DreamCloud Mattress DreamCloud Mattress Sleeps Hot

DreamCloud has been around for some decades, but their 2019 product really caught my attention. It is a hybrid mattress that combines memory technology, foam, and coils — all of the things which make luxury beds — but at a reasonable price range, vacuum-packed into a box and shipped straight to your homes.

Components

The DreamCloud is a 15-inch, 2-toned bed with 5 layers. Each layer serves a specific purpose, so I will get into detail below.

Cover

The whole mattress is covered in a blend of cashmere and polyester, giving it a plush and luxurious feel. It’s soft, breathable, and quilted with memory material. This makes it a EuroTop, a more seamless type of pillow-top that gives a cleaner look; but also serves to prevent shifting or losing its original shape like a conventional pillow top. The memory filling is quite compact, which makes it more durable than its obsolete counterpart. This outer top layer makes up 1.5 inches of the composition.

Memory Gel

The 2nd layer is a gel-infused memory foam which allows body contouring and provides pressure relief. This makes up another 1.5 inches of the mattress.

Body contouring gives the feeling of “sinking” into the mattress, which I’ve mostly associated with 5-star hotel beds. The gel swirl dissipates heat, which really helps in keeping cool on the mattress. For those who, like me, often sleep hot in the course of the night, this is essential. The combination of the ventilated cover along with the cooling gel makes a massive difference, and I don’t wake up sweaty before the crack of dawn. DreamCloud Mattress Sleeps Hot

Poly Foam

The layer underneath the gel foam is a slightly firmer foam, providing support and body to the mattress. This is especially important for heavier individuals, to keep from sinking completely into the bed. The moderate firmness of the bed is attributable to the poly foam, counteracting sagging, which commonly causes body pains. This 2.5-inch layer also serves as a separator for the coils underneath.

Pocketed Coils

Underneath the high-density foam are individually wrapped coils. These modern versions of springs equip the mattress with mobility, allowing sleepers to change positions without difficulty and not feel “stuck.” Their unique pockets make it so they can move independently, reducing motion transfer, which is a consideration for people who share beds. In exactly the same vein, the coils are braced around the borders, strengthening the perimeter of the bed and maximizing the whole space without collapsing. The coils constitute more than half of the mattress’s composition at 8 inches.

Base Foam

At the very base of this mattress is 1.5 inches of firm foam. This serves to cushion the coils and act as the foundation.

Ratings by Feature DreamCloud Mattress Sleeps Hot

Now that we know what is in a DreamCloud, let’s see how all its components combine in some of the attributes we look for in a bed. Everyone will have a different experience when it comes to discussions on firmness, mobility, pressure relief, edge support, and motion transfer, since these features are determined by the person’s body weight, build, and sleeping preferences. To help understand my personal evaluations, please be aware that I weigh about 120 pounds, and am a mix back and side sleeper, often favoring the latter.

Firmness — 5 out of 5

I start with this because I have lower back problems, which have been largely caused by my previous bed of more than 1 decade. I didn’t take the time to notice that the mattress had sagged considerably from the center section, and I had been sleeping with poor skeletal support.

The DreamCloud has medium firmness, which gives me the adequate balance of comfort and support that I am searching for. It’s firm enough to make certain that my spine isn’t compromised, and factoring in its Eurotop cover, gives me a nice “sinking into the bed” feel that I love.

I reiterate that if you’re bigger and heavier than I am, it’s possible that the DreamCloud may feel softer, as your body sinks more significantly into the mattress.

Mobility — 5 out of 5

Among my sleeping habits is also repositioning a lot through the evening. I am a combination sleeper and change between back and side sleeping. I’ve had beds which were too soft and static that made it feel like drowning when I tried to move slightly. On the DreamCloud, this wasn’t a problem, and I could reposition easily, aided by a gentle bounce.

Stress Relief — 4 out of 5 DreamCloud Mattress Sleeps Hot

Different body parts exert various amounts of pressure when we lay in bed. Hips and shoulders have more contact with the bed, especially for side sleepers. Being a hybrid , the Eurotop and memory materials allow some sinkage into its foam layers, and consequently alleviate more pressure compared to firmer alternatives. When sleeping on my back, I feel an even distribution of my weight, and the coils offer the support for my lower back. When I am on my side, it’s comfortable enough for my shoulders and hips to snuggle into the mattress whilst keeping my spine aligned. I don’t sleep on my stomach much, but I felt like I sank too much when I attempted it; so it can be the opposite in a sense that there was no pressure to the point of sinkage. That, or I’m just not used to that position.

Edge Support — 4 out of 5

Should you make full use of every inch of your bed, you would want to do it without falling off its borders. I found the DreamCloud’s stability to be rather good, but also noticed that it was better when lying down instead of when sitting on the edge, which may be attributed to the more even distribution of my weight when spread across a larger area than at one spot.

Motion Transfer — 5 out of 5

Having coils, I was a tad worried that my puppy and I’d be bouncing around the mattress at each move we made during our sleep, disturbing the other. I was impressed by how well the top layers cushioned and muffled our moves, even if my dog jumped on the bed while I was on it. My dog is a medium and weighs about 30 kg, so I’m not sure how this would translate to sharing a bed with another adult human, but I am pretty happy about this for my own needs.

Final Remarks and FAQ DreamCloud Mattress Sleeps Hot

It is utterly important to choose the right bed to make sure you’ll be safe from back pains and get good quality sleep. If you want to live a long and healthy life, sleep has got to be a priority. You’ve just read my reviews on each of the features of DreamCloud, and I’d say that all in all, it is definitely a reliable brand.

That sums up my experience with my 1st ever hybrid bed-in-a-box. Below are some FAQs for those with particular concerns.

Who would enjoy the DreamCloud?

I’m so satisfied with it, but like I specified: I mostly sleep on my side and back, and wouldn’t recommend it for stomach sleepers. Those who often sleep hot will also enjoy the gel-infused memory foam. For those who are fond of the luxury feel of excellent hotel beds, this is a fantastic option for its plush Eurotop and memory materials that provide the sensation of being cradled in clouds. Back support is wonderful, and I haven’t had any pains to report.

How do I set up the DreamCloud?

It’ll be delivered in a box, and is quite heavy; so unless you are extremely strong, you’ll need some assistance. If you’ll be using a bed frame or base, place the vacuum-sealed mattress on it before you tear it open. You will not need box springs, but this fits most standard sizes; additionally, this can be used on any flat surface (even the flooring ). Because of the coils, be prepared for some snap as it escapes its container. Allow up to 48 hours for it to completely reshape and adapt to its new area. That’s it!

What’s the price range?

Based upon the size, they range from $799 for a Twin up to $1,499 for a King or California King. If you are not in any rush, you might want to await a promo, which they provide quite frequently on their website.

Is it a good investment? DreamCloud Mattress Sleeps Hot

For me, it was definitely leaps and bounds better than my old fashioned mattress. I estimate I would have at least a decade with this one, so that counts as a good investment in my book. Besides, for the luxurious sleep it has provided me in the past couple of weeks, it’s been more than worth the cost.
