Buying mattresses and beds used to be a tedious process of trial and error. First, one had to find the time to visit a physical store, and then spend hours laying, pressing, and bouncing on different models for feel, comfort, support, and everything else which could offer a good night’s sleep. Sadly, as I’m sure many of us have experienced, even those steps aren’t guarantees, since no amount of short-term testing can adequately replicate the lives we live on our beds. Apart from spending a third of our days in that area, there is also the matter of sharing beds with our spouses, kids, and pets; there’s sleeping, but also playing, cradling, studying, mothers feeding, etc.
For several years, the really excellent mattresses cost an arm and a leg for the technologies used in their design. If you didn’t have the funds for it, you’re stuck with your run-of-the-mill mattress that later made you toss and turn at night or gave you back pains. I know, because this was my issue, and before the era of “everything is on the internet,” there just were not that many options. Given what was available, I did not have anyone to vouch for each brand’s quality either.
Now, the game has completely changed with the introduction of luxury beds-in-boxes, available online and delivered directly to your doorstep. One such company that has risen in popularity is the DreamCloud Mattress, and if the name alone doesn’t entice you, allow me to break it down.

DreamCloud has existed for some decades, but their 2019 product really caught my attention. It is a hybrid mattress that combines memory tech, foam, and coils — all the things that make luxury beds — but at a reasonable price range, vacuum-packed into a box and sent straight to your houses.

The DreamCloud is a 15-inch, 2-toned bed with 5 layers. Each layer serves a specific purpose, so I will get into detail below.
The entire mattress is covered in a blend of cashmere and polyester, giving it a plush and luxurious feel. It’s soft, breathable, and quilted with memory material. This makes it a EuroTop, a more seamless sort of pillow-top that provides a cleaner look; but also functions to prevent shifting or changing its original shape like a conventional pillow top. The memory filling is quite compact, making it more durable than its dated counterpart. This outer top layer makes up 1.5 inches of the composition.
The 2nd layer is a gel-infused memory foam which allows body contouring and provides pressure relief. This makes up another 1.5 inches of the mattress.
Body contouring gives the sensation of “sinking” into the mattress, which I’ve mostly associated with 5-star hotel beds. The gel swirl dissipates heat, which really helps in keeping cool on the bed. For those who, like me, tend to sleep hot in the course of the night, this is essential. The combination of the ventilated cover and the cooling makes a massive difference, and I don’t wake up sweaty before the crack of dawn. DreamCloud Mattress Delivery Delay
The layer underneath the gel foam is a slightly firmer foam, providing support and body to the mattress. This is particularly important for heavier people, to keep from sinking completely into the bed. The moderate firmness of the bed is attributable to this poly foam, counteracting sagging, which commonly causes body pains. This 2.5-inch layer also acts as a separator for the coils beneath.
Under the high-density foam are individually wrapped coils. These modern versions of springs equip the mattress with mobility, allowing sleepers to change positions without difficulty and not feel “stuck.” Their individual pockets make it so that they can react independently, reducing movement transfer, which is a consideration for those who share beds. In the same vein, the coils are braced round the edges, strengthening the perimeter of the bed and maximizing the entire space without collapsing. The coils constitute more than half of the mattress’s composition at 8 inches.
At the very bottom of the mattress is 1.5 inches of firm foam. This serves to cushion the coils and act as the base.
Ratings by Feature DreamCloud Mattress Delivery Delay
Now that we know what’s in a DreamCloud, let’s see how all its components combine in some of the features we look for in a mattress. Everyone will have a different experience when it comes to discussions on stability, freedom, pressure relief, edge support, and movement transfer, because these features are dependent on the individual’s body weight, build, and sleeping preferences. To help understand my personal evaluations, please note that I weigh about 120 pounds, and am a mix back and side sleeper, often favoring the latter.
Firmness — 5 out of 5
I start with this because I have lower back problems, which have been mostly caused by my previous bed of over 1 decade. I didn’t take the time to notice that the mattress had sagged considerably from the middle section, and I was sleeping with poor skeletal support.
The DreamCloud has medium firmness, which gives me the adequate balance of comfort and support that I’m searching for. It’s firm enough to ensure that my spine isn’t compromised, and factoring in its Eurotop cover, gives me a nice “sinking into the bed” feel that I love.
I reiterate that if you’re bigger and heavier than I am, it is likely that the DreamCloud may feel softer, as your body sinks more significantly into the mattress.

Mobility — 5 out of 5
One of my sleeping habits is also shifting a lot through the night. I’m a combination sleeper and change between back and side sleeping. I’ve had beds that were too soft and static that made it feel like drowning when I tried to move slightly. On the DreamCloud, this was not an issue, and I could reposition easily, aided by a mild bounce.
Pressure Relief — 4 out of 5 DreamCloud Mattress Delivery Delay
Different body parts exert various amounts of pressure once we lay in bed. Hips and shoulders have more contact with the bed, especially for side sleepers. Being a hybrid mattress, the Eurotop and memory materials allow some sinkage into its foam layers, and consequently relieve more pressure in comparison to firmer alternatives. When sleeping on my back, I feel an even distribution of my weight, and the coils offer the support for my lower back. When I am on my side, it is comfortable enough for my shoulders and hips to snuggle in the mattress whilst keeping my spine aligned. I do not sleep on my stomach much, but I felt like I sank too much when I tried it; so it may be the reverse in a sense that there was no pressure to the point of sinkage. That, or I’m just not used to this position.
Edge Support — 4 out of 5
If you make full use of every inch of your bed, you’d want to do it without rolling off its borders. I found the DreamCloud’s stability to be rather good, but also noted that it was better when lying down instead of when sitting on the edge, which may be attributed to the more even distribution of my weight when spread across a larger area than in 1 spot.
Motion Transfer — 5 out of 5
Having coils, I was a tad worried that my dog and I would be bouncing around the mattress at every move we each made throughout our sleep, disturbing the other. I was pleasantly impressed with how well the top layers cushioned and muffled our movements, even if my dog jumped on the bed while I was on it. My dog is a medium and weighs around 30 kg, so I am not sure how this could translate to sharing a bed with another adult individual, but I am pretty happy about this for my own needs.
Final Remarks and FAQ DreamCloud Mattress Delivery Delay
It is utterly important to choose the right bed to make sure you’ll be safe from back pains and get good quality sleep. If you want to live a long and healthy life, sleep has got to be a priority. You’ve just read my reviews on each of the features of DreamCloud, and I’d say that all in all, it is definitely a reliable brand.
That sums up my experience with my 1st ever hybrid bed-in-a-box. Here are some FAQs for those of you with particular concerns.
Who would enjoy the DreamCloud?
I’m so happy with it, but like I specifiedI mostly sleep on my back and side, and wouldn’t recommend it for stomach sleepers. Those who often sleep hot will also enjoy the gel-infused memory foam. For those who are fond of the luxury feel of excellent hotel beds, this is a fantastic alternative for its plush Eurotop and memory substances that provide the sensation of being cradled in clouds. Back support is wonderful, and I haven’t had any pains to report.
How do I set up the DreamCloud?
It’ll be delivered in a box, and is quite heavy; so unless you are extremely strong, you will need some assistance. If you’ll be using a bed frame or base, put the vacuum-sealed mattress on it before you tear it open. You will not need box springs, but this fits most standard sizes; additionally, this can be used on any flat surface (even the flooring ). Due to the coils, be ready for some snap when it escapes its container. Allow up to 48 hours for it to completely reshape and adjust to its new area. That’s it!
What’s the price range?
Depending on the size, they range from $799 for a Twin up to $1,499 for a King or California King. If you’re not in any rush, you may want to await a discount, which they provide quite frequently on their website.
Is it a great investment? DreamCloud Mattress Delivery Delay
For me, it was definitely leaps and bounds better than my old fashioned mattress. I estimate I would have at least a decade with this one, so that counts as a great investment in my book. Besides, for the luxury sleep it’s provided me in the last few weeks, it has been more than worth the cost.
