Buying mattresses and beds used to be a tedious process of trial and error. First, one had to find the time to visit a physical store, and then spend hours laying, pressing, and bouncing on different models for feel, comfort, support, and everything else which could offer a fantastic night’s sleep. Sadly, as I am sure many of us have experienced, even those measures aren’t guarantees, since no amount of short-term testing can adequately replicate the lifestyles we live on our beds. Aside from spending a third of our days in that space, there’s also the matter of sharing beds with our partners, kids, and pets; there’s sleeping, but also playing, cradling, reading, mothers feeding, etc.
For many decades, the really good mattresses cost an arm and a leg for the technologies used in their design. If you did not have the funds for it, you’re stuck with your run-of-the-mill mattress which later made you toss and turn at night or gave you back pains. I know, since this was my problem, and before the era of “everything is on the internet,” there just were not that many options. Given what was available, I didn’t have anyone to vouch for every brand’s quality either.
Now, the game has completely changed with the introduction of luxury beds-in-boxes, available online and delivered right to your doorstep. One such company that has risen in popularity is the DreamCloud Mattress, and if the name alone doesn’t entice you, allow me to break it down.

DreamCloud has been around for some years, but their 2019 product really caught my attention. It is a hybrid that combines memory technology, foam, and coils — all the things that make luxury beds — but at an affordable budget, vacuum-packed into a box and sent straight to your houses.

The DreamCloud is a 15-inch, 2-toned bed with 5 layers. Each layer serves a specific purpose, so I’ll get into detail below.
The whole mattress is covered in a blend of cashmere and polyester, giving it a plush and luxurious feel. It’s soft, breathable, and quilted with memory material. This makes it a EuroTop, a more seamless sort of pillow-top that provides a cleaner look; but also functions to prevent shifting or losing its original shape like a traditional pillow top. The memory filling is quite compact, which makes it more durable than its obsolete counterpart. This outer top layer constitutes 1.5 inches of the composition.
The 2nd layer is a gel-infused memory foam which allows body contouring and provides pressure relief. This makes up another 1.5 inches of the mattress.
Body contouring gives the feeling of “sinking” into the mattress, which I have mostly associated with 5-star hotel beds. The gel swirl dissipates heat, which helps in keeping cool on the bed. For those who, like me, often sleep hot in the course of the night, this is vital. The combination of the ventilated cover along with the cooling gel makes a huge difference, and I don’t wake up sweaty before the crack of dawn. DreamCloud Mattress Contact
The layer underneath the gel foam is a slightly firmer foam, providing body and support to the mattress. This is particularly important for heavier people, to keep from sinking entirely into the bed. The medium firmness of the bed is attributable to the poly foam, counteracting sagging, which commonly causes body pains. This 2.5-inch layer also acts as a separator for the coils beneath.
Under the high-density foam are individually wrapped coils. These modern versions of springs equip the mattress with mobility, allowing sleepers to change positions with ease and not feel “stuck.” Their individual pockets make it so that they can move independently, reducing motion transfer, which is a consideration for those who share beds. In the same vein, the coils are braced around the edges, strengthening the perimeter of the bed and maximizing the whole space without collapsing. The coils make up more than half of the bed’s composition at 8 inches.
At the very base of this mattress is 1.5 inches of firm foam. This serves to cushion the coils and act as the foundation.
Ratings by Feature DreamCloud Mattress Contact
Now that we know what is in a DreamCloud, let’s see how all its elements combine in a number of the features we look for in a mattress. Everyone will have a different experience when it comes to discussions on firmness, freedom, pressure relief, edge support, and movement transfer, since these features are determined by the person’s body weight, build, and sleeping preferences. To help understand my personal evaluations, please note that I weigh roughly 120 pounds, and am a mix back and side sleeper, often favoring the latter.
Firmness — 5 out of 5
I start with this because I have lower back problems, which have been largely caused by my previous bed of over 1 decade. I didn’t take the time to notice that the bed had sagged considerably in the center section, and I had been sleeping with poor skeletal support.
The DreamCloud has medium firmness, which gives me the adequate balance of comfort and support that I’m looking for. It’s firm enough to make certain that my spine is not compromised, and factoring in its Eurotop cover, gives me a nice “sinking into the bed” feel that I love.
I reiterate that if you are larger and heavier than I am, it is likely that the DreamCloud may feel softer, as your body sinks more significantly into the mattress.

Mobility — 5 out of 5
One of my sleeping habits is also repositioning a lot through the evening. I’m a combination sleeper and change between back and side sleeping. I’ve had beds that were too soft and static that made it feel like drowning when I tried to move slightly. On the DreamCloud, this wasn’t an issue, and I could reposition easily, aided by a gentle bounce.
Stress Relief — 4 out of 5 DreamCloud Mattress Contact
Different body parts exert various amounts of pressure once we lay in bed. Hips and shoulders have more contact with the bed, especially for side sleepers. Being a hybrid mattress, the Eurotop and memory materials allow some sinkage into its foam layers, and consequently relieve more pressure compared to firmer alternatives. When sleeping on my back, I feel an even distribution of my weight, and the coils provide the support for my lower back. When I’m on my side, it is comfortable enough for my shoulders and hips to snuggle in the mattress whilst keeping my spine aligned. I do not sleep on my stomach much, but I felt like I sank too much when I tried it; so it can be the opposite in a sense that there wasn’t any pressure to the point of sinkage. That, or I am just not used to that position.
Edge Support — 4 out of 5
Should you make full use of every inch of your mattress, you would want to do it without falling off its edges. I found the DreamCloud’s stability to be quite good, but also noticed that it was better when lying down rather than when sitting on the edge, which may be attributed to the more even distribution of my weight when spread across a larger area than at 1 spot.
Motion Transfer — 5 out of 5
Having coils, I was somewhat worried that my puppy and I’d be bouncing around the mattress at each move we each made throughout our sleep, disturbing the other. I was pleasantly impressed by how well the top layers cushioned and muffled our moves, even when my dog jumped on the bed while I was on it. My dog is a medium and weighs around 30 kg, so I’m not sure how this could translate to sharing a bed with another adult human, but I’m pretty happy about this for my own needs.
Final Remarks and FAQ DreamCloud Mattress Contact
It is utterly important to choose the right bed to make sure you’ll be safe from back pains and get good quality sleep. If you want to live a long and healthy life, sleep has got to be a priority. You’ve just read my reviews on each of the features of DreamCloud, and I’d say that all in all, it is definitely a reliable brand.
That sums up my experience with my 1st ever hybrid bed-in-a-box. Here are some FAQs for those with particular concerns.
Who would enjoy the DreamCloud?
I’m so happy with it, but like I specifiedI mostly sleep on my side and back, and would not recommend it for stomach sleepers. People who often sleep hot will also enjoy the gel-infused memory foam. For those who are fond of the luxury feel of excellent hotel beds, this is a fantastic option for its plush Eurotop and memory substances that give the sensation of being cradled in clouds. Back support is wonderful, and I have not had any pains to report.
How do I install the DreamCloud?
It is going to be delivered in a box, and is quite heavy; so unless you’re extremely strong, you’ll need some assistance. If you’ll be using a bed frame or foundation, place the vacuum-sealed mattress on it before you tear it open. You will not need box springs, but this fits most standard sizes; additionally, this can be used on any flat surface (even the flooring ). Due to the coils, be ready for some snap as it escapes its own container. Allow up to 48 hours for it to completely reshape and adjust to its new space. That’s it!
What is the price range?
Based on the size, they range from $799 for a Twin up to $1,499 for a King or California King. If you’re not in any hurry, you might want to await a discount, which they offer quite frequently on their website.
Is it a great investment? DreamCloud Mattress Contact
For me, it was definitely leaps and bounds better than my old fashioned mattress. I estimate I’d have at least a decade with this one, so that counts as a good investment in my book. Besides, for the luxury sleep it has provided me in the last few weeks, it has been more than worth the price.
