Buying mattresses and beds used to be a tedious process of trial and error. First, one had to find the time to go to a physical store, and then spend hours laying, pressing, and bouncing on various kinds for feel, comfort, support, and everything else that could offer a good night’s sleep. Sadly, as I’m sure many of us have experienced, even those measures aren’t guarantees, because no amount of short-term testing can adequately replicate the lives we live on our beds. Apart from spending a third of our days in that area, there’s also the matter of sharing beds with our partners, kids, and pets; there’s sleeping, but also playing, cradling, studying, mothers feeding, etc.
For several years, the really excellent mattresses cost an arm and a leg for the technologies used in their design. If you didn’t have the funds for it, you were stuck with your run-of-the-mill mattress that eventually made you toss and turn at night or gave you back pains. I know, since this was my problem, and before the era of “it’s all on the world wide web,” there just were not that many alternatives. Given what was available, I did not have anyone to vouch for every brand’s quality either.
Now, the game has completely changed with the introduction of luxury beds-in-boxes, available online and delivered right to your doorstep. One such company that has risen in popularity is the DreamCloud Mattress, and if the name alone doesn’t entice you, allow me to break it down.

DreamCloud has been around for some years, but their 2019 product really caught my attention. It is a hybrid that combines memory tech, foam, and coils — all the things that make luxury beds — but at an affordable budget, vacuum-packed into a box and shipped straight to your homes.

The DreamCloud is a 15-inch, 2-toned mattress with 5 layers. Each layer serves a specific purpose, so I’ll get into detail below.
The whole mattress is covered in a blend of cashmere and polyester, giving it a plush and luxurious feel. It’s soft, breathable, and quilted with memory material. This makes it a EuroTop, a more seamless sort of pillow-top that gives a cleaner look; but also serves to prevent shifting or changing its original shape like a traditional pillow top. The memory filling is quite compact, making it more durable than its obsolete counterpart. This outer top layer constitutes 1.5 inches of the composition.
The 2nd layer is a gel-infused memory foam that allows body contouring and provides pressure relief. This makes up another 1.5 inches of the mattress.
Body contouring gives the feeling of “sinking” into the bed, which I’ve mostly associated with 5-star hotel beds. The gel swirl dissipates heat, which really helps in keeping cool on the mattress. For those who, like me, tend to sleep hot in the course of the night, this is vital. The combination of the ventilated cover and the cooling gel makes a massive difference, and I don’t wake up sweaty before the crack of dawn. DreamCloud Luxury Hybrid Mattress Vs Saatva
The layer underneath the gel foam is a slightly firmer foam, providing support and body to the mattress. This is particularly important for heavier individuals, to keep from sinking completely into the bed. The moderate firmness of the bed is attributable to this poly foam, counteracting sagging, which commonly leads to body pains. This 2.5-inch layer also serves as a separator for the coils beneath.
Underneath the high-density foam are individually wrapped coils. These modern versions of springs equip the mattress with mobility, allowing sleepers to change positions with ease and not feel “stuck.” Their individual pockets make it so they can move independently, reducing movement transfer, which is a consideration for people who share beds. In exactly the same vein, the coils are braced round the edges, strengthening the perimeter of this bed and maximizing the whole space without collapsing. The coils constitute more than half of the mattress’s makeup at 8 inches.
At the very base of this mattress is 1.5 inches of firm foam. This serves to cushion the coils and act as the base.
Ratings by Feature DreamCloud Luxury Hybrid Mattress Vs Saatva
Now that we know what is in a DreamCloud, let us see how all its components combine in a number of the attributes we look for in a bed. Everyone will have a different experience when it comes to talks on stability, mobility, pressure relief, edge support, and motion transfer, because these features are dependent on the individual’s body weight, build, and sleeping preferences. To help understand my personal evaluations, please be aware that I weigh about 120 lbs, and am a mix back and side sleeper, often favoring the latter.
Firmness — 5 out of 5
I start with this because I have lower back problems, which have been mostly caused by my previous bed of more than 1 decade. I didn’t take the time to notice that the mattress had sagged considerably in the center section, and I had been sleeping with poor skeletal support.
The DreamCloud has medium firmness, which gives me the adequate balance of support and comfort that I’m searching for. It is firm enough to ensure that my spine is not compromised, and factoring in its Eurotop cover, gives me a nice “sinking into the bed” feel that I adore.
I reiterate that if you are bigger and heavier than I am, it is likely that the DreamCloud may feel softer, as your body sinks more significantly into the mattress.

Mobility — 5 out of 5
Among my sleeping habits is also shifting a lot during the night. I am a combination sleeper and switch between back and side sleeping. I’ve had beds which were too soft and static that made it feel like drowning when I attempted to move slightly. On the DreamCloud, this was not an issue, and I could reposition easily, aided by a gentle bounce.
Stress Relief — 4 out of 5 DreamCloud Luxury Hybrid Mattress Vs Saatva
Different body parts exert various amounts of pressure when we lay in bed. Hips and shoulders have more contact with the mattress, particularly for side sleepers. Being a hybrid , the Eurotop and memory materials allow some sinkage into its foam layers, and consequently relieve more pressure compared to firmer alternatives. When sleeping on my back, I feel an even distribution of my weight, and the coils provide the support for my lower back. When I’m on my side, it’s comfortable enough for my shoulders and hips to snuggle in the mattress whilst keeping my spine aligned. I don’t sleep on my stomach much, but I felt like I sank too much when I tried it; so it can be the opposite in a sense that there was no pressure to the point of sinkage. That, or I’m simply not used to this position.
Edge Support — 4 out of 5
If you make full use of every inch of your mattress, you would want to do it without falling off its borders. I found the DreamCloud’s stability to be rather good, but also noticed that it was better when lying down rather than when sitting on the edge, which might be attributed to the better distribution of my weight when spread across a larger area than in one spot.
Motion Transfer — 5 out of 5
Having coils, I was somewhat worried that my puppy and I would be bouncing around the bed at each move we each made during our sleep, disturbing the other. I was impressed by how well the top layers padded and muffled our moves, even if my dog jumped on the bed while I was on it. My dog is a medium and weighs about 30 kg, so I’m not sure how this could translate to sharing a bed with another adult individual, but I’m pretty happy about this for my own needs.
Final Remarks and FAQ DreamCloud Luxury Hybrid Mattress Vs Saatva
It is utterly important to choose the right bed to make sure you’ll be safe from back pains and get good quality sleep. If you want to live a long and healthy life, sleep has got to be a priority. You’ve just read my reviews on each of the features of DreamCloud, and I’d say that all in all, it is definitely a reliable brand.
That sums up my experience with my 1st ever hybrid bed-in-a-box. Below are some FAQs for those with particular concerns.
Who’d enjoy the DreamCloud?
I’m so happy with it, but like I specifiedI mostly sleep on my back and side, and would not recommend it for stomach sleepers. Those who often sleep hot will also enjoy the gel-infused memory foam. For those persons who are fond of the luxury feel of excellent hotel beds, this is a fantastic option for its lavish Eurotop and memory substances that provide the feeling of being cradled in clouds. Back support is wonderful, and I haven’t had any pains to report.
How do I install the DreamCloud?
It’ll be delivered in a box, and is quite heavy; so unless you are extremely strong, you’ll need some assistance. If you’ll be using a bed frame or base, place the vacuum-sealed mattress on it before you rip it open. You will not need box springs, but this fits most standard sizes; additionally, this can be used on any flat surface (even the flooring ). Due to the coils, be ready for some snap as it escapes its own container. Allow up to 48 hours for it to completely reshape and adapt to its new space. That’s it!
What is the price range?
Depending upon the size, they range from $799 for a Twin up to $1,499 for a King or California King. If you’re not in any rush, you might want to wait for a promo, which they provide quite frequently on their site.
Is it a great investment? DreamCloud Luxury Hybrid Mattress Vs Saatva
For me, it was definitely leaps and bounds better than my old fashioned mattress. I estimate I would have at least a decade with this one, so that counts as a great investment in my book. Besides, for the luxury sleep it has provided me in the past few weeks, it has been more than worth the price.
