Dreamcloud-Review

Buying mattresses and beds used to be a tedious process of trial and error. First, one had to find the time to visit a physical store, and then spend hours laying, pressing, and bouncing on various kinds for feel, comfort, support, and everything else which could provide a fantastic night’s sleep. Sadly, as I’m sure many people have experienced, even those steps aren’t guarantees, since no amount of short-term testing can satisfactorily replicate the lives we live on our beds. Aside from spending a third of our days in that area, there is also the issue of sharing beds with our spouses, kids, and pets; there’s sleeping, but also playing, cradling, reading, moms feeding, and so on.

For many decades, the really excellent mattresses cost an arm and a leg for the technologies used in their design. If you didn’t have the funds for it, you’re stuck with your run-of-the-mill mattress that eventually made you toss and turn at night or gave you back pains. I know, because this was my problem, and before the era of “everything is on the world wide web,” there just were not that many alternatives. Given what was available, I didn’t have anyone to vouch for every brand’s quality .

Now, the game has completely changed with the addition of luxury beds-in-boxes, available online and delivered right to your doorstep. One such company that has risen in popularity is the DreamCloud Mattress, and if the name alone doesn’t entice you, allow me to break it down.

DreamCloud Mattress DreamCloud Inc

DreamCloud has existed for some decades, but their 2019 product is what caught my attention. It’s a hybrid that combines memory tech, foam, and coils — all the things that make luxury beds — but at an affordable price range, vacuum-packed into a box and sent straight to your houses.

Components

The DreamCloud is a 15-inch, 2-toned bed with 5 layers. Each layer serves a specific purpose, so I’ll get into detail below.

Cover

The entire mattress is covered in a blend of cashmere and polyester, giving it a plush and luxurious feel. It’s soft, breathable, and quilted with memory material. This makes it a EuroTop, a more seamless type of pillow-top that gives a cleaner look; but also functions to prevent shifting or losing its original shape like a traditional pillow top. The memory filling is quite compact, which makes it more durable than its dated counterpart. This outer top layer makes up 1.5 inches of the composition.

Memory Gel

The 2nd layer is a gel-infused memory foam that allows body contouring and provides pressure relief. This constitutes another 1.5 inches of the mattress.

Body contouring gives the feeling of “sinking” into the mattress, which I have mostly associated with 5-star hotel beds. The gel swirl dissipates heat, which really helps in keeping cool on the bed. For those who, like me, tend to sleep hot in the course of the night, this is essential. The combination of the ventilated cover along with the cooling makes a huge difference, and I don’t wake up sweaty before the crack of dawn. DreamCloud Inc

Poly Foam

The layer underneath the gel foam is a slightly firmer foam, providing support and body to the mattress. This is especially important for heavier people, to keep from sinking completely into the bed. The moderate firmness of the bed is attributable to the poly foam, counteracting sagging, which commonly causes body pains. This 2.5-inch layer also serves as a separator for the coils beneath.

Pocketed Coils

Under the high-density foam are individually wrapped coils. These modern versions of springs equip the mattress with mobility, allowing sleepers to shift positions with ease and not feel “stuck.” Their unique pockets make it so they can move independently, reducing motion transfer, which is a consideration for those who share beds. In the same vein, the coils are braced around the edges, strengthening the perimeter of the bed and maximizing the whole space without collapsing. The coils constitute more than half of the bed’s makeup at 8 inches.

Base Foam

At the very base of the mattress is 1.5 inches of firm foam. This serves to cushion the coils and act as the base.

Ratings by Feature DreamCloud Inc

Now that we know what is in a DreamCloud, let’s see how all its elements combine in a number of the features we look for in a bed. Everybody will have a different experience when it comes to talks on firmness, mobility, pressure relief, edge support, and motion transfer, because these features are dependent on the person’s body weight, build, and sleeping preferences. To help understand my personal ratings, please note that I weigh about 120 pounds, and am a combination back and side sleeper, often favoring the latter.

Firmness — 5 out of 5

I start with this because I have lower back problems, which were largely due to my previous bed of over 1 decade. I didn’t take the time to observe that the bed had sagged considerably in the middle section, and I was sleeping with poor skeletal support.

The DreamCloud has medium firmness, which gives me the adequate balance of comfort and support that I am looking for. It is firm enough to make certain that my spine isn’t compromised, and factoring in its Eurotop cover, gives me a nice “sinking into the bed” feel that I adore.

I reiterate that if you’re larger and heavier than I am, it’s likely that the DreamCloud may feel softer, as your body sinks more significantly into the mattress.

Mobility — 5 out of 5

One of my sleeping habits is also repositioning a lot during the night. I am a combination sleeper and switch between back and side sleeping. I’ve had beds which were too soft and static that made it feel like drowning when I tried to move slightly. On the DreamCloud, this was not an issue, and I could reposition easily, aided by a mild bounce.

Pressure Relief — 4 out of 5 DreamCloud Inc

Different body parts exert various amounts of pressure when we lay in bed. Hips and shoulders have more contact with the mattress, particularly for side sleepers. Being a hybrid mattress, the Eurotop and memory materials allow some sinkage into its foam layers, and consequently relieve more pressure compared to firmer alternatives. When sleeping on my back, I feel an even distribution of my weight, and the coils offer the support for my lower back. When I’m on my side, it’s comfortable enough for my shoulders and hips to snuggle in the mattress whilst keeping my spine aligned. I do not sleep on my stomach much, but I felt like I sank too much when I attempted it; so it may be the reverse in a sense that there was no pressure to the point of sinkage. That, or I’m just not used to that position.

Edge Support — 4 out of 5

If you make full use of every inch of your bed, you’d want to do it without falling off its borders. I found the DreamCloud’s stability to be quite good, but also noted that it was better when lying down instead of when sitting on the edge, which might be attributed to the better distribution of my weight when spread across a larger area than in 1 spot.

Motion Transfer — 5 out of 5

Having coils, I was a tad worried that my puppy and I’d be bouncing around the mattress at each move we each made throughout our sleep, disturbing the other. I was impressed by how well the top layers padded and muffled our moves, even when my dog jumped on the bed while I was on it. My dog is a medium and weighs about 30 kg, so I’m not sure how this could translate to sharing a bed with another adult human, but I am pretty happy about this for my own needs.

Final Remarks and FAQ DreamCloud Inc

It is utterly important to choose the right bed to make sure you’ll be safe from back pains and get good quality sleep. If you want to live a long and healthy life, sleep has got to be a priority. You’ve just read my reviews on each of the features of DreamCloud, and I’d say that all in all, it is definitely a reliable brand.

That sums up my experience with my 1st ever hybrid bed-in-a-box. Below are some FAQs for those with particular concerns.

Who would enjoy the DreamCloud?

I’m so satisfied with it, but like I specified: I mostly sleep on my side and back, and wouldn’t recommend it for stomach sleepers. People who tend to sleep hot will also enjoy the gel-infused memory foam. For those who are fond of the luxury feel of excellent hotel beds, this is a fantastic alternative for its lavish Eurotop and memory materials that give the feeling of being cradled in clouds. Back support is wonderful, and I haven’t had any pains to report.

How do I set up the DreamCloud?

It’ll be delivered in a box, and is quite heavy; so unless you’re extremely strong, you will need some assistance. If you’ll be using a bed frame or base, put the vacuum-sealed mattress on it before you tear it open. You will not require box springs, but this fits most standard sizes; additionally, this can be used on any flat surface (even the flooring ). Because of the coils, be ready for some snap when it escapes its own container. Allow up to 48 hours for it to completely reshape and adapt to its new area. That’s it!

What is the price range?

Based on the size, they range from $799 for a Twin up to $1,499 for a King or California King. If you’re not in any hurry, you may want to await a promo, which they offer quite frequently on their site.

Is it a good investment? DreamCloud Inc

For me, it was definitely leaps and bounds better than my age-old mattress. I estimate I’d have at least a decade with this one, so that counts as a great investment in my book. Besides, for the luxurious sleep it’s provided me in the past couple of weeks, it’s been more than worth the price.
