Dreamcloud-Review

Purchasing mattresses and beds used to be a tedious process of trial and error. First, one had to find the time to go to a physical store, and then spend hours laying, pressing, and bouncing on different models for feel, comfort, support, and everything else that could offer a fantastic night’s sleep. Sadly, as I am sure many people have experienced, even those steps aren’t guarantees, since no amount of short-term testing can adequately replicate the lifestyles we live on our beds. Aside from spending a third of our days in that area, there’s also the matter of sharing beds with our partners, children, and pets; there’s sleeping, but also playing, cradling, reading, mothers feeding, and so on.

For many years, the really excellent mattresses cost an arm and a leg for the technologies used in their design. If you did not have the funds for it, you were stuck with your run-of-the-mill mattress which later made you toss and turn at night or gave you back pains. I know, since this was my problem, and before the era of “it’s all on the internet,” there just were not that many alternatives. Given what was available, I didn’t have anyone to vouch for every brand’s quality either.

Now, the game has completely changed with the introduction of luxury beds-in-boxes, available online and delivered right to your doorstep. One such company that has risen in popularity is the DreamCloud Mattress, and if the name doesn’t entice you, allow me to break it down.

DreamCloud has been around for some years, but their 2019 product really caught my attention. It is a hybrid that combines memory technology, foam, and coils — all the things that make luxury beds — but at a reasonable budget, vacuum-packed into a box and shipped straight to your homes.

Components

The DreamCloud is a 15-inch, 2-toned mattress with 5 layers. Each layer serves a specific purpose, so I will get into detail below.

Cover

The entire mattress is covered in a blend of cashmere and polyester, giving it a plush and luxurious feel. It is soft, breathable, and quilted with memory material. This makes it a EuroTop, a more seamless type of pillow-top that provides a cleaner look; but also serves to prevent shifting or losing its original shape like a conventional pillow top. The memory filling is quite dense, making it more durable than its dated counterpart. This outer top layer constitutes 1.5 inches of the composition.

Memory Gel

The 2nd layer is a gel-infused memory foam that allows body contouring and provides pressure relief. This makes up another 1.5 inches of the mattress.

Body contouring gives the feeling of “sinking” into the bed, which I’ve mostly associated with 5-star hotel beds. The gel swirl dissipates heat, which really helps in keeping cool on the mattress. For those who, like me, tend to sleep hot in the course of the night, this is essential. The combination of the ventilated cover and the cooling makes a massive difference, and I don’t wake up sweaty before the crack of dawn. DreamCloud Corporate Headquarters

Poly Foam

The layer underneath the gel foam is a slightly firmer foam, providing support and body to the mattress. This is particularly important for heavier individuals, to keep from sinking completely into the bed. The moderate firmness of the bed is attributable to this poly foam, counteracting sagging, which commonly leads to body pains. This 2.5-inch layer also acts as a separator for the coils underneath.

Pocketed Coils

Under the high-density foam are individually wrapped coils. These modern versions of springs equip the mattress with mobility, allowing sleepers to change positions without difficulty and not feel “stuck.” Their unique pockets make it so they can move independently, reducing motion transfer, which is a consideration for those who share beds. In the same vein, the coils are braced round the borders, strengthening the perimeter of the bed and maximizing the entire space without collapsing. The coils constitute more than half of the mattress’s makeup at 8 inches.

Base Foam

At the very bottom of this mattress is 1.5 inches of firm foam. This serves to cushion the coils and act as the base.

Ratings by Feature DreamCloud Corporate Headquarters

Now that we know what’s in a DreamCloud, let’s see how all its elements combine in some of the attributes we look for in a bed. Everybody will have a different experience when it comes to discussions on stability, mobility, pressure relief, edge support, and motion transfer, since these features are determined by the individual’s body weight, build, and sleeping preferences. To help understand my personal evaluations, please note that I weigh roughly 120 pounds, and am a combination back and side sleeper, often favoring the latter.

Firmness — 5 out of 5

I start with this because I have lower back problems, which have been largely due to my previous bed of over 1 decade. I didn’t take the time to observe that the bed had sagged considerably from the middle section, and I had been sleeping with poor skeletal support.

The DreamCloud has medium firmness, which gives me the adequate balance of support and comfort that I’m searching for. It is firm enough to ensure that my spine is not compromised, and factoring in its Eurotop cover, gives me a nice “sinking into the bed” feel that I adore.

I reiterate that if you are larger and heavier than I am, it is possible that the DreamCloud may feel softer, as your body sinks more significantly into the mattress.

Mobility — 5 out of 5

One of my sleeping habits is also repositioning a lot through the night. I am a combination sleeper and change between back and side sleeping. I’ve had beds that were too soft and static that made it feel like drowning when I tried to move slightly. On the DreamCloud, this was not a problem, and I could reposition easily, aided by a mild bounce.

Stress Relief — 4 out of 5 DreamCloud Corporate Headquarters

Different body parts exert different amounts of pressure once we lay in bed. Hips and shoulders have more contact with the bed, especially for side sleepers. Being a hybrid mattress, the Eurotop and memory materials allow some sinkage into its foam layers, and consequently alleviate more pressure in comparison to firmer alternatives. When sleeping on my back, I feel an even distribution of my weight, and the coils offer the support for my lower back. When I’m on my side, it’s comfortable enough for my shoulders and hips to snuggle in the mattress whilst keeping my spine aligned. I don’t sleep on my stomach much, but I felt like I sank too much when I tried it; so it can be the reverse in a sense that there wasn’t any pressure to the point of sinkage. That, or I am simply not used to this position.

Edge Support — 4 out of 5

If you make full use of every inch of your mattress, you would want to do it without falling off its borders. I found the DreamCloud’s stability to be rather good, but also noted that it was better when lying down rather than when sitting on the edge, which may be attributed to the more even distribution of my weight when spread across a larger area than in 1 spot.

Motion Transfer — 5 out of 5

Having coils, I was a tad worried that my dog and I would be bouncing around the bed at every move we made during our sleep, disturbing the other. I was impressed by how well the top layers padded and muffled our moves, even if my dog jumped on the bed while I was on it. My dog is a medium and weighs around 30 kg, so I’m not sure how this would translate to sharing a bed with another adult human, but I’m pretty happy about this for my own needs.

Final Remarks and FAQ DreamCloud Corporate Headquarters

It is utterly important to choose the right bed to make sure you’ll be safe from back pains and get good quality sleep. If you want to live a long and healthy life, sleep has got to be a priority. You’ve just read my reviews on each of the features of DreamCloud, and I’d say that all in all, it is definitely a reliable brand.

That sums up my experience with my 1st ever hybrid bed-in-a-box. Here are some FAQs for those with particular concerns.

Who’d enjoy the DreamCloud?

I’m so happy with it, but like I specified: I mostly sleep on my side and back, and would not recommend it for stomach sleepers. People who often sleep hot will also enjoy the gel-infused memory foam. For those persons who are fond of the luxury feel of excellent hotel beds, this is a good alternative for its lavish Eurotop and memory materials that provide the feeling of being cradled in clouds. Back support is wonderful, and I haven’t had any pains to report.

How do I install the DreamCloud?

It is going to be delivered in a box, and is quite heavy; so unless you are extremely strong, you will need some assistance. If you’ll be using a frame or foundation, place the vacuum-sealed mattress on it before you rip it open. You will not need box springs, but this fits most standard sizes; additionally, this can be used on any flat surface (even the flooring ). Due to the coils, be ready for some snap when it escapes its own container. Allow up to 48 hours for it to completely reshape and adjust to its new space. That’s it!

What is the price range?

Based on the size, they range from $799 for a Twin up to $1,499 for a King or California King. If you’re not in any rush, you may want to await a promo, which they offer quite frequently on their site.

Is it a good investment? DreamCloud Corporate Headquarters

For me, it was definitely leaps and bounds better than my age-old mattress. I estimate I would have at least a decade with this one, so that counts as a good investment in my book. Besides, for the luxury sleep it’s provided me in the last few weeks, it has been more than worth the price.
