DreamCloud Bed Frame With Headboard

Dreamcloud-Review

Buying mattresses and beds used to be a tedious process of trial and error. First, one had to find the time to go to a physical store, and then spend hours laying, pressing, and bouncing on different kinds for feel, comfort, support, and everything else which could provide a good night’s sleep. Sadly, as I’m sure many of us have experienced, even those steps aren’t guarantees, since no amount of short-term testing can satisfactorily replicate the lifestyles we live on our beds. Aside from spending a third of our days in that area, there’s also the matter of sharing beds with our spouses, children, and pets; there’s sleeping, but also playing, cradling, studying, mothers feeding, etc.

For several years, the really good mattresses cost an arm and a leg for the technologies used in their design. If you did not have the budget for it, you’re stuck with your run-of-the-mill mattress that later made you toss and turn at night or gave back pains. I know, since this was my problem, and before the era of “everything is on the world wide web,” there just weren’t that many alternatives. Given what was available, I did not have anyone to vouch for each brand’s quality .

Now, the game has completely changed with the introduction of luxury beds-in-boxes, available online and delivered right to your doorstep. One such company that has risen in popularity is the DreamCloud Mattress, and if the name alone doesn’t entice you, allow me to break it down.

DreamCloud Mattress DreamCloud Bed Frame With Headboard

DreamCloud has existed for some years, but their 2019 product is what caught my attention. It’s a hybrid mattress that combines memory tech, foam, and coils — all the things that make luxury beds — but at an affordable price range, vacuum-packed into a box and shipped straight to your houses.

Components

The DreamCloud is a 15-inch, 2-toned mattress with 5 layers. Each layer serves a specific purpose, so I will get into detail below.

Cover

The whole mattress is covered in a blend of cashmere and polyester, giving it a plush and luxurious feel. It is soft, breathable, and quilted with memory material. This makes it a EuroTop, a more seamless sort of pillow-top that provides a cleaner look; but also serves to prevent shifting or losing its original shape like a conventional pillow top. The memory filling is quite compact, which makes it more durable than its obsolete counterpart. This outer top layer constitutes 1.5 inches of the composition.

Memory Gel

The 2nd layer is a gel-infused memory foam that allows body contouring and provides pressure relief. This constitutes another 1.5 inches of the mattress.

Body contouring gives the sensation of “sinking” into the mattress, which I’ve mostly associated with 5-star hotel beds. The gel swirl dissipates heat, which helps in keeping cool on the mattress. For those who, like me, often sleep hot in the course of the night, this is vital. The combination of the ventilated cover and the cooling makes a huge difference, and I don’t wake up sweaty before the crack of dawn. DreamCloud Bed Frame With Headboard

Poly Foam

The layer underneath the gel foam is a slightly firmer foam, providing body and support to the mattress. This is particularly important for heavier individuals, to keep from sinking entirely into the bed. The moderate firmness of the bed is attributable to this poly foam, counteracting sagging, which commonly leads to body pains. This 2.5-inch layer also acts as a separator for the coils underneath.

Pocketed Coils

Underneath the high-density foam are individually wrapped coils. These modern versions of springs equip the mattress with mobility, allowing sleepers to shift positions with ease and not feel “stuck.” Their individual pockets make it so they can react independently, reducing motion transfer, which is a consideration for those who share beds. In exactly the same vein, the coils are braced round the borders, strengthening the perimeter of the bed and maximizing the whole space without collapsing. The coils constitute more than half of the bed’s makeup at 8 inches.

Base Foam

At the very bottom of the mattress is 1.5 inches of firm foam. This serves to cushion the coils and act as the base.

Ratings by Feature DreamCloud Bed Frame With Headboard

Now that we know what’s in a DreamCloud, let us see how all its components combine in a number of the attributes we look for in a mattress. Everybody will have a different experience when it comes to talks on firmness, freedom, pressure relief, edge support, and motion transfer, because these features are dependent on the person’s body weight, build, and sleeping preferences. To help understand my personal evaluations, please be aware that I weigh about 120 pounds, and am a mix back and side sleeper, often favoring the latter.

Firmness — 5 out of 5

I start with this because I have lower back problems, which have been largely caused by my previous bed of over 1 decade. I didn’t take the time to notice that the mattress had sagged considerably from the center section, and I had been sleeping with poor skeletal support.

The DreamCloud has medium firmness, which gives me the adequate balance of support and comfort that I am searching for. It’s firm enough to make certain that my spine is not compromised, and factoring in its Eurotop cover, gives me a nice “sinking into the bed” feel that I adore.

I reiterate that if you’re larger and heavier than I am, it is possible that the DreamCloud may feel softer, as your body sinks more significantly into the mattress.

Mobility — 5 out of 5

One of my sleeping habits is also shifting a lot through the evening. I am a combination sleeper and switch between back and side sleeping. I’ve had beds which were too soft and static that made it feel like drowning when I tried to move slightly. On the DreamCloud, this wasn’t an issue, and I could reposition easily, aided by a gentle bounce.

Pressure Relief — 4 out of 5 DreamCloud Bed Frame With Headboard

Different body parts exert various amounts of pressure when we lay in bed. Hips and shoulders have more contact with the bed, particularly for side sleepers. Being a hybrid mattress, the Eurotop and memory materials allow some sinkage into its foam layers, and consequently alleviate more pressure compared to firmer alternatives. When sleeping on my back, I feel an even distribution of my weight, and the coils offer the support for my lower back. When I’m on my side, it’s comfortable enough for my shoulders and hips to snuggle in the mattress whilst keeping my spine aligned. I don’t sleep on my stomach much, but I felt like I sank too much when I attempted it; so it can be the opposite in a sense that there was no pressure to the point of sinkage. That, or I’m just not used to this position.

Edge Support — 4 out of 5

If you make full use of every inch of your mattress, you’d want to do it without rolling off its borders. I found the DreamCloud’s stability to be rather good, but also noticed that it was better when lying down instead of when sitting on the edge, which might be due to the better distribution of my weight when spread across a larger area than at one spot.

Motion Transfer — 5 out of 5

Having coils, I was somewhat worried that my puppy and I would be bouncing around the bed at every move we each made during our sleep, disturbing the other. I was impressed by how well the top layers padded and muffled our movements, even if my dog jumped on the bed while I was on it. My dog is a medium and weighs around 30 kg, so I am not sure how this could translate to sharing a bed with another adult individual, but I’m pretty happy about this for my own needs.

Final Remarks and FAQ DreamCloud Bed Frame With Headboard

It is utterly important to choose the right bed to make sure you’ll be safe from back pains and get good quality sleep. If you want to live a long and healthy life, sleep has got to be a priority. You’ve just read my reviews on each of the features of DreamCloud, and I’d say that all in all, it is definitely a reliable brand.

That sums up my experience with my 1st ever hybrid bed-in-a-box. Below are some FAQs for those of you with particular concerns.

Who’d enjoy the DreamCloud?

I’m so satisfied with it, but like I specifiedI mostly sleep on my back and side, and wouldn’t recommend it for stomach sleepers. Those who tend to sleep hot will also enjoy the gel-infused memory foam. For those who are fond of the luxury feel of excellent hotel beds, this is a fantastic alternative for its lavish Eurotop and memory substances that provide the feeling of being cradled in clouds. Back support is wonderful, and I have not had any pains to report.

How do I install the DreamCloud?

It is going to be delivered in a box, and is quite heavy; so unless you are extremely strong, you will need some assistance. If you’ll be using a bed frame or base, place the vacuum-sealed mattress on it before you tear it open. You will not need box springs, but this fits most standard sizes; additionally, this can be used on any flat surface (even the floor). Due to the coils, be ready for some snap as it escapes its container. Allow up to 48 hours for it to completely reshape and adapt to its new space. That’s it!

What’s the price range?

Based on the size, they range from $799 for a Twin up to $1,499 for a King or California King. If you’re not in any rush, you might want to await a promo, which they provide quite frequently on their website.

Is it a great investment? DreamCloud Bed Frame With Headboard

For me, it was definitely leaps and bounds better than my age-old mattress. I estimate I would have at least a decade with this one, so that counts as a great investment in my book. Besides, for the luxury sleep it’s provided me in the last few weeks, it’s been more than worth the cost.
