DreamCloud Adjustable Bed Remote

Dreamcloud-Review

Buying beds and mattresses used to be a tedious process of trial and error. First, one had to find the time to go to a physical store, and then spend hours laying, pressing, and bouncing on various kinds for feel, comfort, support, and everything else that could offer a good night’s sleep. Sadly, as I am sure many people have experienced, even those steps are not guarantees, since no amount of short-term testing can satisfactorily replicate the lifestyles we live on our beds. Aside from spending a third of our days in that space, there’s also the issue of sharing beds with our partners, children, and pets; there is sleeping, but also playing, cradling, reading, moms feeding, etc.

For many years, the really excellent mattresses cost an arm and a leg for the technologies used in their design. If you did not have the funds for it, you’re stuck with your run-of-the-mill mattress that eventually made you toss and turn at night or gave back pains. I know, because this was my issue, and before the era of “everything is on the world wide web,” there just weren’t that many alternatives. Given what was available, I did not have anyone to vouch for every brand’s quality .

Now, the game has completely changed with the addition of luxury beds-in-boxes, available online and delivered directly to your doorstep. One such company that has risen in popularity is the DreamCloud Mattress, and if the name doesn’t entice you, allow me to break it down.

DreamCloud Mattress DreamCloud Adjustable Bed Remote

DreamCloud has existed for some years, but their 2019 product really caught my attention. It is a hybrid that combines memory tech, foam, and coils — all the things which make luxury beds — but at an affordable budget, vacuum-packed into a box and shipped straight to your houses.

Components

The DreamCloud is a 15-inch, 2-toned bed with 5 layers. Each layer serves a specific purpose, so I’ll get into detail below.

Cover

The whole mattress is covered in a blend of cashmere and polyester, giving it a plush and luxurious feel. It is soft, breathable, and quilted with memory material. This makes it a EuroTop, a more seamless sort of pillow-top that gives a cleaner look; but also functions to prevent shifting or losing its original shape like a traditional pillow top. The memory filling is quite dense, which makes it more durable than its dated counterpart. This outer top layer constitutes 1.5 inches of the composition.

Memory Gel

The 2nd layer is a gel-infused memory foam which allows body contouring and provides pressure relief. This makes up another 1.5 inches of the mattress.

Body contouring gives the sensation of “sinking” into the bed, which I have mostly associated with 5-star hotel beds. The gel swirl dissipates heat, which really helps in keeping cool on the bed. For those who, like me, tend to sleep hot in the course of the night, this is vital. The combination of the ventilated cover along with the cooling makes a huge difference, and I don’t wake up sweaty before the crack of dawn. DreamCloud Adjustable Bed Remote

Poly Foam

The layer underneath the gel foam is a slightly firmer foam, providing support and body to the mattress. This is especially important for heavier people, to keep from sinking entirely into the bed. The moderate firmness of the bed is attributable to this poly foam, counteracting sagging, which commonly causes body pains. This 2.5-inch layer also acts as a separator for the coils beneath.

Pocketed Coils

Underneath the high-density foam are individually wrapped coils. These modern versions of springs equip the mattress with mobility, allowing sleepers to change positions without difficulty and not feel “stuck.” Their unique pockets make it so they can move independently, reducing movement transfer, which is a consideration for people who share beds. In the same vein, the coils are braced around the edges, strengthening the perimeter of this bed and maximizing the entire space without collapsing. The coils constitute more than half of the bed’s makeup at 8 inches.

Base Foam

At the very bottom of this mattress is 1.5 inches of firm foam. This serves to cushion the coils and act as the foundation.

Ratings by Feature DreamCloud Adjustable Bed Remote

Now that we know what’s in a DreamCloud, let’s see how all its components combine in a number of the features we look for in a mattress. Everyone will have a different experience when it comes to discussions on firmness, mobility, pressure relief, edge support, and movement transfer, since these features are determined by the individual’s body weight, build, and sleeping preferences. To help understand my personal ratings, please note that I weigh about 120 lbs, and am a combination back and side sleeper, often favoring the latter.

Firmness — 5 out of 5

I start with this because I have lower back problems, which have been largely caused by my previous bed of more than 1 decade. I didn’t take the time to notice that the bed had sagged considerably in the middle section, and I had been sleeping with poor skeletal support.

The DreamCloud has medium firmness, which gives me the adequate balance of support and comfort that I am looking for. It’s firm enough to make certain that my spine is not compromised, and factoring in its Eurotop cover, gives me a nice “sinking into the bed” feel that I adore.

I reiterate that if you are bigger and heavier than I am, it’s likely that the DreamCloud may feel softer, as your body sinks more significantly into the mattress.

Mobility — 5 out of 5

Among my sleeping habits is also repositioning a lot through the evening. I’m a combination sleeper and switch between back and side sleeping. I’ve had beds that were too soft and static that made it feel like drowning when I tried to move slightly. On the DreamCloud, this was not an issue, and I could reposition easily, aided by a mild bounce.

Pressure Relief — 4 out of 5 DreamCloud Adjustable Bed Remote

Different body parts exert various amounts of pressure when we lay in bed. Hips and shoulders have more contact with the mattress, especially for side sleepers. Being a hybrid , the Eurotop and memory materials allow some sinkage into its foam layers, and consequently alleviate more pressure in comparison to firmer alternatives. When sleeping on my back, I feel an even distribution of my weight, and the coils provide the support for my lower back. When I’m on my side, it is comfortable enough for my shoulders and hips to snuggle in the mattress whilst keeping my spine aligned. I do not sleep on my stomach much, but I felt like I sank too much when I tried it; so it may be the reverse in a sense that there was no pressure to the point of sinkage. That, or I’m simply not used to this position.

Edge Support — 4 out of 5

Should you make full use of every inch of your mattress, you’d want to do it without rolling off its borders. I found the DreamCloud’s stability to be rather good, but also noticed that it was better when lying down rather than when sitting on the edge, which might be attributed to the more even distribution of my weight when spread across a larger area than at 1 spot.

Motion Transfer — 5 out of 5

Having coils, I was somewhat worried that my puppy and I’d be bouncing around the bed at every move we each made during our sleep, disturbing the other. I was pleasantly impressed by how well the top layers cushioned and muffled our movements, even when my dog jumped on the bed while I was on it. My dog is a medium and weighs about 30 kg, so I am not sure how this could translate to sharing a bed with another adult individual, but I’m pretty happy about this for my own needs.

Final Remarks and FAQ DreamCloud Adjustable Bed Remote

It is utterly important to choose the right bed to make sure you’ll be safe from back pains and get good quality sleep. If you want to live a long and healthy life, sleep has got to be a priority. You’ve just read my reviews on each of the features of DreamCloud, and I’d say that all in all, it is definitely a reliable brand.

That sums up my experience with my 1st ever hybrid bed-in-a-box. Here are some FAQs for those of you with particular concerns.

Who would enjoy the DreamCloud?

I’m so happy with it, but like I specified: I mostly sleep on my back and side, and wouldn’t recommend it for stomach sleepers. Those who tend to sleep hot will also enjoy the gel-infused memory foam. For those persons who are fond of the luxury feel of excellent hotel beds, this is a fantastic alternative for its lavish Eurotop and memory substances that give the feeling of being cradled in clouds. Back support is wonderful, and I haven’t had any pains to report.

How do I install the DreamCloud?

It’ll be delivered in a box, and is quite heavy; so unless you are extremely strong, you’ll need some assistance. If you’re going to be using a frame or foundation, place the vacuum-sealed mattress on it before you tear it open. You will not need box springs, but this fits most standard sizes; additionally, this can be used on any flat surface (even the flooring ). Due to the coils, be ready for some snap when it escapes its own container. Allow up to 48 hours for it to completely reshape and adapt to its new area. That’s it!

What’s the price range?

Depending on the size, they range from $799 for a Twin up to $1,499 for a King or California King. If you’re not in any rush, you might want to await a discount, which they offer quite frequently on their website.

Is it a good investment? DreamCloud Adjustable Bed Remote

For me, it was definitely leaps and bounds better than my age-old mattress. I estimate I would have at least a decade with this one, so that counts as a great investment in my book. Besides, for the luxury sleep it has provided me in the past few weeks, it has been more than worth the cost.
