Buying mattresses and beds used to be a tedious process of trial and error. First, one had to find the time to visit a physical store, and then spend hours laying, pressing, and bouncing on various models for feel, comfort, support, and everything else which could provide a fantastic night’s sleep. Sadly, as I am sure many of us have experienced, even those steps are not guarantees, since no amount of short-term testing can satisfactorily replicate the lifestyles we live on our beds. Apart from spending a third of our days in that area, there’s also the issue of sharing beds with our spouses, children, and pets; there’s sleeping, but also playing, cradling, reading, moms feeding, etc.
For many years, the really excellent mattresses cost an arm and a leg for the technologies used in their design. If you did not have the funds for it, you were stuck with your run-of-the-mill mattress that eventually made you toss and turn at night or gave you back pains. I know, because this was my issue, and before the era of “it’s all on the internet,” there just were not that many alternatives. Given what was available, I didn’t have anyone to vouch for each brand’s quality either.
Now, the game has completely changed with the addition of luxury beds-in-boxes, available online and delivered right to your doorstep. One such company that has risen in popularity is the DreamCloud Mattress, and if the name doesn’t entice you, allow me to break it down.
DreamCloud Mattress Does DreamCloud Sleep Hot
DreamCloud has been around for some years, but their 2019 product is what caught my attention. It is a hybrid mattress that combines memory tech, foam, and coils — all the things that make luxury beds — but at a reasonable budget, vacuum-packed into a box and sent straight to your houses.

The DreamCloud is a 15-inch, 2-toned bed with 5 layers. Each layer serves a particular purpose, so I’ll get into detail below.
The whole mattress is covered in a blend of cashmere and polyester, giving it a plush and luxurious feel. It is soft, breathable, and quilted with memory material. This makes it a EuroTop, a more seamless type of pillow-top that provides a cleaner look; but also functions to prevent shifting or changing its original shape like a traditional pillow top. The memory filling is quite compact, which makes it more durable than its dated counterpart. This outer top layer constitutes 1.5 inches of the composition.
The 2nd layer is a gel-infused memory foam which allows body contouring and provides pressure relief. This makes up another 1.5 inches of the mattress.
Body contouring gives the sensation of “sinking” into the bed, which I have mostly associated with 5-star hotel beds. The gel swirl dissipates heat, which really helps in keeping cool on the bed. For those who, like me, tend to sleep hot in the course of the night, this is essential. The combination of the ventilated cover and the cooling gel makes a huge difference, and I don’t wake up sweaty before the crack of dawn. Does DreamCloud Sleep Hot
The layer underneath the gel foam is a slightly firmer foam, providing body and support to the mattress. This is especially important for heavier individuals, to keep from sinking entirely into the bed. The medium firmness of the bed is attributable to this poly foam, counteracting sagging, which commonly leads to body pains. This 2.5-inch layer also acts as a separator for the coils beneath.
Underneath the high-density foam are individually wrapped coils. These modern versions of springs equip the mattress with mobility, allowing sleepers to shift positions without difficulty and not feel “stuck.” Their unique pockets make it so they can move independently, reducing movement transfer, which is a consideration for people who share beds. In exactly the same vein, the coils are braced around the edges, strengthening the perimeter of this bed and maximizing the entire space without collapsing. The coils make up more than half of the mattress’s makeup at 8 inches.
At the very bottom of this mattress is 1.5 inches of firm foam. This serves to cushion the coils and act as the foundation.
Ratings by Feature Does DreamCloud Sleep Hot
Now that we know what is in a DreamCloud, let’s see how all its elements combine in a number of the features we look for in a mattress. Everybody will have a different experience when it comes to discussions on firmness, mobility, pressure relief, edge support, and motion transfer, because these features are determined by the individual’s body weight, build, and sleeping preferences. To help understand my personal ratings, please note that I weigh about 120 lbs, and am a mix back and side sleeper, often favoring the latter.
Firmness — 5 out of 5
I start with this because I have lower back problems, which were mostly caused by my previous bed of more than 1 decade. I didn’t take the time to observe that the mattress had sagged considerably in the center section, and I was sleeping with poor skeletal support.
The DreamCloud has medium firmness, which gives me the adequate balance of support and comfort that I am looking for. It is firm enough to ensure that my spine isn’t compromised, and factoring in its Eurotop cover, gives me a nice “sinking into the bed” feel that I adore.
I reiterate that if you are larger and heavier than I am, it is likely that the DreamCloud may feel softer, as your body sinks more significantly into the mattress.

Mobility — 5 out of 5
Among my sleeping habits is also repositioning a lot during the night. I am a combination sleeper and switch between back and side sleeping. I’ve had beds that were too soft and static that made it feel like drowning when I attempted to move slightly. On the DreamCloud, this wasn’t an issue, and I could reposition easily, aided by a mild bounce.
Stress Relief — 4 out of 5 Does DreamCloud Sleep Hot
Different body parts exert various amounts of pressure once we lay in bed. Hips and shoulders have more contact with the bed, especially for side sleepers. Being a hybrid mattress, the Eurotop and memory materials allow some sinkage into its foam layers, and consequently alleviate more pressure compared to firmer alternatives. When sleeping on my back, I feel an even distribution of my weight, and the coils provide the support for my lower back. When I am on my side, it is comfortable enough for my shoulders and hips to snuggle in the mattress whilst keeping my spine aligned. I don’t sleep on my stomach much, but I felt like I sank too much when I tried it; so it can be the opposite in a sense that there wasn’t any pressure to the point of sinkage. That, or I’m just not used to that position.
Edge Support — 4 out of 5
If you make full use of every inch of your bed, you would want to do it without falling off its borders. I found the DreamCloud’s stability to be rather good, but also noted that it was better when lying down instead of when sitting on the edge, which might be due to the more even distribution of my weight when spread across a larger area than at 1 spot.
Motion Transfer — 5 out of 5
Having coils, I was somewhat worried that my puppy and I would be bouncing around the mattress at every move we each made throughout our sleep, disturbing the other. I was pleasantly impressed by how well the top layers cushioned and muffled our moves, even when my dog jumped on the bed while I was on it. My dog is a medium and weighs about 30 kg, so I’m not sure how this would translate to sharing a bed with another adult individual, but I’m pretty happy about this for my own needs.
Final Remarks and FAQ Does DreamCloud Sleep Hot
It is utterly important to choose the right bed to make sure you’ll be safe from back pains and get good quality sleep. If you want to live a long and healthy life, sleep has got to be a priority. You’ve just read my reviews on each of the features of DreamCloud, and I’d say that all in all, it is definitely a reliable brand.
That sums up my experience with my 1st ever hybrid bed-in-a-box. Below are some FAQs for those with particular concerns.
Who would enjoy the DreamCloud?
I’m so satisfied with it, but like I specified: I mostly sleep on my side and back, and wouldn’t recommend it for stomach sleepers. Those who often sleep hot will also enjoy the gel-infused memory foam. For those who are fond of the luxury feel of excellent hotel beds, this is a fantastic option for its lavish Eurotop and memory materials that give the sensation of being cradled in clouds. Back support is wonderful, and I haven’t had any pains to report.
How do I install the DreamCloud?
It is going to be delivered in a box, and is quite heavy; so unless you are extremely strong, you will need some assistance. If you’re going to be using a bed frame or base, place the vacuum-sealed mattress on it before you tear it open. You will not require box springs, but this fits most standard sizes; additionally, this can be used on any flat surface (even the flooring ). Due to the coils, be prepared for some snap when it escapes its own container. Allow up to 48 hours for it to completely reshape and adapt to its new space. That’s it!
What’s the price range?
Based on the size, they range from $799 for a Twin up to $1,499 for a King or California King. If you’re not in any rush, you may want to wait for a discount, which they provide quite frequently on their site.
Is it a great investment? Does DreamCloud Sleep Hot
For me, it was definitely leaps and bounds better than my age-old mattress. I estimate I would have at least a decade with this one, so that counts as a great investment in my book. Besides, for the luxurious sleep it’s provided me in the last few weeks, it’s been more than worth the cost.
