Does DreamCloud Come With a Boxspring

Dreamcloud-Review

Buying beds and mattresses used to be a tedious process of trial and error. First, one had to find the time to go to a physical store, and then spend hours laying, pressing, and bouncing on various models for feel, comfort, support, and everything else that could provide a fantastic night’s sleep. Sadly, as I’m sure many of us have experienced, even those steps aren’t guarantees, because no amount of short-term testing can adequately replicate the lives we live on our beds. Aside from spending a third of our days in that area, there’s also the matter of sharing beds with our spouses, kids, and pets; there is sleeping, but also playing, cradling, studying, mothers feeding, etc.

For many decades, the really excellent mattresses cost an arm and a leg for the technologies used in their design. If you did not have the funds for it, you’re stuck with your run-of-the-mill mattress which later made you toss and turn at night or gave back pains. I know, since this was my problem, and before the era of “everything is on the world wide web,” there just weren’t that many alternatives. Given what was available, I did not have anyone to vouch for each brand’s quality either.

Now, the game has completely changed with the introduction of luxury beds-in-boxes, available online and delivered directly to your doorstep. One such company that has risen in popularity is the DreamCloud Mattress, and if the name doesn’t entice you, allow me to break it down.

DreamCloud Mattress Does DreamCloud Come With a Boxspring

DreamCloud has been around for some decades, but their 2019 product really caught my attention. It’s a hybrid that combines memory technology, foam, and coils — all of the things that make luxury beds — but at an affordable price range, vacuum-packed into a box and sent straight to your houses.

Components

The DreamCloud is a 15-inch, 2-toned mattress with 5 layers. Each layer serves a specific purpose, so I will get into detail below.

Cover

The whole mattress is covered in a blend of cashmere and polyester, giving it a plush and luxurious feel. It is soft, breathable, and quilted with memory material. This makes it a EuroTop, a more seamless sort of pillow-top that provides a cleaner look; but also functions to prevent shifting or losing its original shape like a traditional pillow top. The memory filling is quite dense, making it more durable than its dated counterpart. This outer top layer constitutes 1.5 inches of the composition.

Memory Gel

The 2nd layer is a gel-infused memory foam which allows body contouring and provides pressure relief. This makes up another 1.5 inches of the mattress.

Body contouring gives the feeling of “sinking” into the mattress, which I have mostly associated with 5-star hotel beds. The gel swirl dissipates heat, which really helps in keeping cool on the bed. For those who, like me, often sleep hot in the course of the night, this is vital. The combination of the ventilated cover along with the cooling makes a massive difference, and I don’t wake up sweaty before the crack of dawn. Does DreamCloud Come With a Boxspring

Poly Foam

The layer underneath the gel foam is a slightly firmer foam, providing support and body to the mattress. This is especially important for heavier people, to keep from sinking entirely into the bed. The medium firmness of the bed is attributable to the poly foam, counteracting sagging, which commonly causes body pains. This 2.5-inch layer also acts as a separator for the coils underneath.

Pocketed Coils

Underneath the high-density foam are individually wrapped coils. These modern versions of springs equip the mattress with mobility, allowing sleepers to shift positions without difficulty and not feel “stuck.” Their individual pockets make it so they can move independently, reducing movement transfer, which is a consideration for people who share beds. In exactly the same vein, the coils are braced around the borders, strengthening the perimeter of this bed and maximizing the whole space without collapsing. The coils make up more than half of the bed’s composition at 8 inches.

Base Foam

At the very base of this mattress is 1.5 inches of firm foam. This serves to cushion the coils and act as the base.

Ratings by Feature Does DreamCloud Come With a Boxspring

Now that we know what’s in a DreamCloud, let’s see how all its components combine in a number of the features we look for in a bed. Everybody will have a different experience when it comes to talks on firmness, mobility, pressure relief, edge support, and motion transfer, because these features are determined by the person’s body weight, build, and sleeping preferences. To help understand my personal evaluations, please be aware that I weigh roughly 120 pounds, and am a mix back and side sleeper, often favoring the latter.

Firmness — 5 out of 5

I start with this because I have lower back problems, which were mostly due to my previous bed of more than 1 decade. I didn’t take the time to observe that the mattress had sagged considerably in the middle section, and I had been sleeping with poor skeletal support.

The DreamCloud has medium firmness, which gives me the adequate balance of comfort and support that I am searching for. It is firm enough to make certain that my spine isn’t compromised, and factoring in its Eurotop cover, gives me a nice “sinking into the bed” feel that I adore.

I reiterate that if you’re larger and heavier than I am, it’s possible that the DreamCloud may feel softer, as your body sinks more significantly into the mattress.

Mobility — 5 out of 5

One of my sleeping habits is also shifting a lot during the night. I’m a combination sleeper and switch between back and side sleeping. I’ve had beds that were too soft and static that made it feel like drowning when I tried to move slightly. On the DreamCloud, this wasn’t a problem, and I could reposition easily, aided by a mild bounce.

Pressure Relief — 4 out of 5 Does DreamCloud Come With a Boxspring

Different body parts exert various amounts of pressure once we lay in bed. Hips and shoulders have more contact with the mattress, particularly for side sleepers. Being a hybrid mattress, the Eurotop and memory materials allow some sinkage into its foam layers, and consequently relieve more pressure compared to firmer alternatives. When sleeping on my back, I feel an even distribution of my weight, and the coils offer the support for my lower back. When I’m on my side, it’s comfortable enough for my shoulders and hips to snuggle into the mattress whilst keeping my spine aligned. I do not sleep on my stomach much, but I felt like I sank too much when I tried it; so it can be the reverse in a sense that there wasn’t any pressure to the point of sinkage. That, or I am just not used to this position.

Edge Support — 4 out of 5

If you make full use of every inch of your mattress, you’d want to do it without rolling off its borders. I found the DreamCloud’s stability to be rather good, but also noted that it was better when lying down instead of when sitting on the edge, which might be due to the more even distribution of my weight when spread across a larger area than in 1 spot.

Motion Transfer — 5 out of 5

Having coils, I was somewhat worried that my dog and I’d be bouncing around the mattress at each move we each made throughout our sleep, disturbing the other. I was impressed by how well the top layers cushioned and muffled our movements, even if my dog jumped on the bed while I was on it. My dog is a medium and weighs around 30 kg, so I’m not sure how this would translate to sharing a bed with another adult individual, but I am pretty happy about this for my own needs.

Final Remarks and FAQ Does DreamCloud Come With a Boxspring

It is utterly important to choose the right bed to make sure you’ll be safe from back pains and get good quality sleep. If you want to live a long and healthy life, sleep has got to be a priority. You’ve just read my reviews on each of the features of DreamCloud, and I’d say that all in all, it is definitely a reliable brand.

That sums up my experience with my 1st ever hybrid bed-in-a-box. Below are some FAQs for those of you with particular concerns.

Who’d enjoy the DreamCloud?

I’m so happy with it, but like I specified: I mostly sleep on my back and side, and wouldn’t recommend it for stomach sleepers. People who often sleep hot will also enjoy the gel-infused memory foam. For those persons who are fond of the luxury feel of excellent hotel beds, this is a good option for its lavish Eurotop and memory materials that provide the feeling of being cradled in clouds. Back support is wonderful, and I haven’t had any pains to report.

How do I set up the DreamCloud?

It is going to be delivered in a box, and is quite heavy; so unless you’re extremely strong, you will need some assistance. If you’ll be using a bed frame or base, place the vacuum-sealed mattress on it before you rip it open. You will not need box springs, but this fits most standard sizes; additionally, this can be used on any flat surface (even the floor). Because of the coils, be prepared for some snap when it escapes its own container. Allow up to 48 hours for it to completely reshape and adapt to its new space. That’s it!

What is the price range?

Depending on the size, they range from $799 for a Twin up to $1,499 for a King or California King. If you’re not in any rush, you may want to wait for a promo, which they offer quite frequently on their website.

Is it a great investment? Does DreamCloud Come With a Boxspring

For me, it was definitely leaps and bounds better than my old fashioned mattress. I estimate I would have at least a decade with this one, so that counts as a good investment in my book. Besides, for the luxurious sleep it’s provided me in the past few weeks, it has been more than worth the price.
