Dreamcloud-Review

Purchasing mattresses and beds used to be a tedious process of trial and error. First, one had to find the time to visit a physical store, and then spend hours laying, pressing, and bouncing on various kinds for feel, comfort, support, and everything else that could provide a good night’s sleep. Sadly, as I’m sure many people have experienced, even those steps aren’t guarantees, since no amount of short-term testing can satisfactorily replicate the lifestyles we live on our beds. Apart from spending a third of our days in that space, there’s also the issue of sharing beds with our spouses, kids, and pets; there’s sleeping, but also playing, cradling, reading, moms feeding, and so on.

For several decades, the really excellent mattresses cost an arm and a leg for the technologies used in their design. If you did not have the funds for it, you’re stuck with your run-of-the-mill mattress which later made you toss and turn at night or gave back pains. I know, since this was my problem, and before the era of “it’s all on the internet,” there just weren’t that many options. Given what was available, I didn’t have anyone to vouch for each brand’s quality either.

Now, the game has completely changed with the addition of luxury beds-in-boxes, available online and delivered directly to your doorstep. One such company that has risen in popularity is the DreamCloud Mattress, and if the name alone doesn’t entice you, allow me to break it down.

DreamCloud Mattress Customer Reviews DreamCloud

DreamCloud has been around for some decades, but their 2019 product really caught my attention. It’s a hybrid mattress that combines memory technology, foam, and coils — all the things which make luxury beds — but at a reasonable price range, vacuum-packed into a box and shipped straight to your houses.

Components

The DreamCloud is a 15-inch, 2-toned bed with 5 layers. Each layer serves a specific purpose, so I will get into detail below.

Cover

The entire mattress is covered in a blend of cashmere and polyester, giving it a plush and luxurious feel. It’s soft, breathable, and quilted with memory material. This makes it a EuroTop, a more seamless sort of pillow-top that provides a cleaner look; but also functions to prevent shifting or changing its original shape like a traditional pillow top. The memory filling is quite compact, which makes it more durable than its obsolete counterpart. This outer top layer makes up 1.5 inches of the composition.

Memory Gel

The 2nd layer is a gel-infused memory foam which allows body contouring and provides pressure relief. This constitutes another 1.5 inches of the mattress.

Body contouring gives the sensation of “sinking” into the mattress, which I’ve mostly associated with 5-star hotel beds. The gel swirl dissipates heat, which helps in keeping cool on the mattress. For those who, like me, tend to sleep hot in the course of the night, this is essential. The combination of the ventilated cover along with the cooling gel makes a huge difference, and I don’t wake up sweaty before the crack of dawn. Customer Reviews DreamCloud

Poly Foam

The layer underneath the gel foam is a slightly firmer foam, providing support and body to the mattress. This is especially important for heavier people, to keep from sinking completely into the bed. The medium firmness of the bed is attributable to this poly foam, counteracting sagging, which commonly causes body pains. This 2.5-inch layer also acts as a separator for the coils underneath.

Pocketed Coils

Underneath the high-density foam are individually wrapped coils. These modern versions of springs equip the mattress with mobility, allowing sleepers to shift positions without difficulty and not feel “stuck.” Their individual pockets make it so they can react independently, reducing movement transfer, which is a consideration for those who share beds. In exactly the same vein, the coils are braced around the edges, strengthening the perimeter of this bed and maximizing the entire space without collapsing. The coils constitute more than half of the bed’s makeup at 8 inches.

Base Foam

At the very base of the mattress is 1.5 inches of firm foam. This serves to cushion the coils and act as the base.

Ratings by Feature Customer Reviews DreamCloud

Now that we know what is in a DreamCloud, let’s see how all its elements combine in a number of the attributes we look for in a bed. Everyone will have a different experience when it comes to talks on stability, freedom, pressure relief, edge support, and motion transfer, since these features are determined by the person’s body weight, build, and sleeping preferences. To help understand my personal evaluations, please note that I weigh about 120 pounds, and am a combination back and side sleeper, often favoring the latter.

Firmness — 5 out of 5

I start with this because I have lower back problems, which have been largely caused by my previous bed of more than 1 decade. I didn’t take the time to notice that the bed had sagged considerably from the middle section, and I had been sleeping with poor skeletal support.

The DreamCloud has medium firmness, which gives me the adequate balance of support and comfort that I’m looking for. It’s firm enough to ensure that my spine is not compromised, and factoring in its Eurotop cover, gives me a nice “sinking into the bed” feel that I love.

I reiterate that if you’re larger and heavier than I am, it’s likely that the DreamCloud may feel softer, as your body sinks more significantly into the mattress.

Mobility — 5 out of 5

Among my sleeping habits is also shifting a lot during the evening. I’m a combination sleeper and switch between back and side sleeping. I’ve had beds which were too soft and static that made it feel like drowning when I attempted to move slightly. On the DreamCloud, this was not a problem, and I could reposition easily, aided by a gentle bounce.

Stress Relief — 4 out of 5 Customer Reviews DreamCloud

Different body parts exert different amounts of pressure when we lay in bed. Hips and shoulders have more contact with the bed, particularly for side sleepers. Being a hybrid mattress, the Eurotop and memory materials allow some sinkage into its foam layers, and consequently relieve more pressure in comparison to firmer alternatives. When sleeping on my back, I feel an even distribution of my weight, and the coils offer the support for my lower back. When I’m on my side, it’s comfortable enough for my shoulders and hips to snuggle in the mattress whilst keeping my spine aligned. I don’t sleep on my stomach much, but I felt like I sank too much when I tried it; so it can be the reverse in a sense that there wasn’t any pressure to the point of sinkage. That, or I’m simply not used to this position.

Edge Support — 4 out of 5

Should you make full use of every inch of your bed, you’d want to do it without rolling off its edges. I found the DreamCloud’s stability to be rather good, but also noticed that it was better when lying down instead of when sitting on the edge, which may be due to the better distribution of my weight when spread across a larger area than at one spot.

Motion Transfer — 5 out of 5

Having coils, I was a tad worried that my puppy and I’d be bouncing around the mattress at every move we each made throughout our sleep, disturbing the other. I was impressed by how well the top layers padded and muffled our moves, even if my dog jumped on the bed while I was on it. My dog is a medium and weighs around 30 kg, so I’m not sure how this could translate to sharing a bed with another adult individual, but I am pretty happy about this for my own needs.

Final Remarks and FAQ Customer Reviews DreamCloud

It is utterly important to choose the right bed to make sure you’ll be safe from back pains and get good quality sleep. If you want to live a long and healthy life, sleep has got to be a priority. You’ve just read my reviews on each of the features of DreamCloud, and I’d say that all in all, it is definitely a reliable brand.

That sums up my experience with my 1st ever hybrid bed-in-a-box. Here are some FAQs for those with particular concerns.

Who’d enjoy the DreamCloud?

I’m so satisfied with it, but like I specifiedI mostly sleep on my back and side, and would not recommend it for stomach sleepers. People who often sleep hot will also enjoy the gel-infused memory foam. For those persons who are fond of the luxury feel of excellent hotel beds, this is a good option for its lavish Eurotop and memory materials that provide the feeling of being cradled in clouds. Back support is wonderful, and I haven’t had any pains to report.

How do I set up the DreamCloud?

It is going to be delivered in a box, and is quite heavy; so unless you are extremely strong, you’ll need some assistance. If you’ll be using a bed frame or base, put the vacuum-sealed mattress on it before you tear it open. You will not need box springs, but this fits most standard sizes; additionally, this can be used on any flat surface (even the floor). Because of the coils, be ready for some snap when it escapes its container. Allow up to 48 hours for it to completely reshape and adapt to its new area. That’s it!

What’s the price range?

Based on the size, they range from $799 for a Twin up to $1,499 for a King or California King. If you’re not in any hurry, you may want to wait for a discount, which they offer quite frequently on their website.

Is it a great investment? Customer Reviews DreamCloud

For me, it was definitely leaps and bounds better than my old fashioned mattress. I estimate I would have at least a decade with this one, so that counts as a great investment in my book. Besides, for the luxury sleep it’s provided me in the last couple of weeks, it has been more than worth the price.
