Can I Add a Headboard Do a DreamCloud Platform

Dreamcloud-Review

Buying mattresses and beds used to be a tedious process of trial and error. First, one had to find the time to go to a physical store, and then spend hours laying, pressing, and bouncing on various kinds for feel, comfort, support, and everything else that could provide a fantastic night’s sleep. Sadly, as I am sure many people have experienced, even those steps aren’t guarantees, since no amount of short-term testing can adequately replicate the lives we live on our beds. Aside from spending a third of our days in that area, there is also the issue of sharing beds with our spouses, kids, and pets; there is sleeping, but also playing, cradling, reading, moms feeding, etc.

For many years, the really excellent mattresses cost an arm and a leg for the technologies used in their design. If you didn’t have the funds for it, you’re stuck with your run-of-the-mill mattress that later made you toss and turn at night or gave back pains. I know, because this was my issue, and before the era of “it’s all on the internet,” there just were not that many options. Given what was available, I didn’t have anyone to vouch for each brand’s quality either.

Now, the game has completely changed with the introduction of luxury beds-in-boxes, available online and delivered right to your doorstep. One such company that has risen in popularity is the DreamCloud Mattress, and if the name doesn’t entice you, allow me to break it down.

DreamCloud has been around for some years, but their 2019 product really caught my attention. It is a hybrid that combines memory technology, foam, and coils — all the things that make luxury beds — but at an affordable price range, vacuum-packed into a box and sent straight to your homes.

Components

The DreamCloud is a 15-inch, 2-toned mattress with 5 layers. Each layer serves a particular purpose, so I will get into detail below.

Cover

The whole mattress is covered in a blend of cashmere and polyester, giving it a plush and luxurious feel. It’s soft, breathable, and quilted with memory material. This makes it a EuroTop, a more seamless sort of pillow-top that provides a cleaner look; but also functions to prevent shifting or changing its original shape like a traditional pillow top. The memory filling is quite compact, making it more durable than its obsolete counterpart. This outer top layer makes up 1.5 inches of the composition.

Memory Gel

The 2nd layer is a gel-infused memory foam which allows body contouring and provides pressure relief. This constitutes another 1.5 inches of the mattress.

Body contouring gives the feeling of “sinking” into the mattress, which I’ve mostly associated with 5-star hotel beds. The gel swirl dissipates heat, which helps in keeping cool on the mattress. For those who, like me, tend to sleep hot in the course of the night, this is vital. The combination of the ventilated cover along with the cooling makes a massive difference, and I don’t wake up sweaty before the crack of dawn. Can I Add a Headboard Do a DreamCloud Platform

Poly Foam

The layer underneath the gel foam is a slightly firmer foam, providing support and body to the mattress. This is especially important for heavier individuals, to keep from sinking entirely into the bed. The medium firmness of the bed is attributable to this poly foam, counteracting sagging, which commonly causes body pains. This 2.5-inch layer also acts as a separator for the coils beneath.

Pocketed Coils

Underneath the high-density foam are individually wrapped coils. These modern versions of springs equip the mattress with mobility, allowing sleepers to shift positions without difficulty and not feel “stuck.” Their individual pockets make it so that they can move independently, reducing motion transfer, which is a consideration for those who share beds. In exactly the same vein, the coils are braced round the borders, strengthening the perimeter of the bed and maximizing the whole space without collapsing. The coils make up more than half of the mattress’s composition at 8 inches.

Base Foam

At the very base of the mattress is 1.5 inches of firm foam. This serves to cushion the coils and act as the foundation.

Ratings by Feature Can I Add a Headboard Do a DreamCloud Platform

Now that we know what’s in a DreamCloud, let’s see how all its components combine in some of the attributes we look for in a mattress. Everyone will have a different experience when it comes to discussions on firmness, freedom, pressure relief, edge support, and movement transfer, because these features are determined by the individual’s body weight, build, and sleeping preferences. To help understand my personal ratings, please note that I weigh roughly 120 lbs, and am a mix back and side sleeper, often favoring the latter.

Firmness — 5 out of 5

I start with this because I have lower back problems, which were mostly due to my previous bed of over 1 decade. I didn’t take the time to observe that the bed had sagged considerably in the center section, and I was sleeping with poor skeletal support.

The DreamCloud has medium firmness, which gives me the adequate balance of support and comfort that I’m searching for. It’s firm enough to make certain that my spine isn’t compromised, and factoring in its Eurotop cover, gives me a nice “sinking into the bed” feel that I love.

I reiterate that if you are larger and heavier than I am, it is likely that the DreamCloud may feel softer, as your body sinks more significantly into the mattress.

Mobility — 5 out of 5

One of my sleeping habits is also repositioning a lot during the night. I am a combination sleeper and switch between back and side sleeping. I’ve had beds which were too soft and static that made it feel like drowning when I tried to move slightly. On the DreamCloud, this wasn’t an issue, and I could reposition easily, aided by a gentle bounce.

Pressure Relief — 4 out of 5 Can I Add a Headboard Do a DreamCloud Platform

Different body parts exert different amounts of pressure once we lay in bed. Hips and shoulders have more contact with the mattress, particularly for side sleepers. Being a hybrid , the Eurotop and memory materials allow some sinkage into its foam layers, and consequently relieve more pressure in comparison to firmer alternatives. When sleeping on my back, I feel an even distribution of my weight, and the coils offer the support for my lower back. When I am on my side, it’s comfortable enough for my shoulders and hips to snuggle into the mattress whilst keeping my spine aligned. I do not sleep on my stomach much, but I felt like I sank too much when I attempted it; so it can be the reverse in a sense that there was no pressure to the point of sinkage. That, or I am simply not used to this position.

Edge Support — 4 out of 5

If you make full use of every inch of your bed, you would want to do it without falling off its edges. I found the DreamCloud’s stability to be quite good, but also noted that it was better when lying down rather than when sitting on the edge, which may be due to the more even distribution of my weight when spread across a larger area than in one spot.

Motion Transfer — 5 out of 5

Having coils, I was a tad worried that my puppy and I’d be bouncing around the bed at every move we each made during our sleep, disturbing the other. I was pleasantly impressed by how well the top layers padded and muffled our movements, even when my dog jumped on the bed while I was on it. My dog is a medium and weighs about 30 kg, so I am not sure how this could translate to sharing a bed with another adult individual, but I’m pretty happy about this for my own needs.

Final Remarks and FAQ Can I Add a Headboard Do a DreamCloud Platform

It is utterly important to choose the right bed to make sure you’ll be safe from back pains and get good quality sleep. If you want to live a long and healthy life, sleep has got to be a priority. You’ve just read my reviews on each of the features of DreamCloud, and I’d say that all in all, it is definitely a reliable brand.

That sums up my experience with my 1st ever hybrid bed-in-a-box. Here are some FAQs for those of you with particular concerns.

Who would enjoy the DreamCloud?

I’m so happy with it, but like I specified: I mostly sleep on my side and back, and would not recommend it for stomach sleepers. People who tend to sleep hot will also enjoy the gel-infused memory foam. For those persons who are fond of the luxury feel of excellent hotel beds, this is a good option for its plush Eurotop and memory substances that give the feeling of being cradled in clouds. Back support is wonderful, and I have not had any pains to report.

How do I set up the DreamCloud?

It’ll be delivered in a box, and is quite heavy; so unless you are extremely strong, you will need some assistance. If you’re going to be using a frame or base, put the vacuum-sealed mattress on it before you tear it open. You will not need box springs, but this fits most standard sizes; additionally, this can be used on any flat surface (even the flooring ). Because of the coils, be ready for some snap when it escapes its container. Allow up to 48 hours for it to completely reshape and adjust to its new area. That’s it!

What is the price range?

Depending upon the size, they range from $799 for a Twin up to $1,499 for a King or California King. If you are not in any hurry, you may want to await a discount, which they offer quite frequently on their site.

Is it a great investment? Can I Add a Headboard Do a DreamCloud Platform

For me, it was definitely leaps and bounds better than my age-old mattress. I estimate I’d have at least a decade with this one, so that counts as a great investment in my book. Besides, for the luxurious sleep it has provided me in the past couple of weeks, it’s been more than worth the cost.
